Much likeOppenheimerbefore it,Christopher Nolan’s next movie is eyeing a major ensemble roster of actors with three new stars joining the fray. Anticipation has been high for the filmmaker’s next project followinghis first Oscar victories for 2023’sOppenheimer, with the project officially being confirmed in early October 2024 and reteaming both with Universal Pictures and Matt Damon for the film. Though details have remained under wraps, late October brought word that Tom Holland had also joined Nolan’s next movie, which also brought the sole detail that it will not be set in the present.
Deadlinehas brought word thatZendaya and Anne Hathaway have signed on to star in Nolan’s new movie. The movie is currently set for a July 05, 2025 release date, though the actual details of the movie’s plot, genre and characters, including Zendaya and Hathaway’s, remain under wraps. It will also mark Hathaway’s third collaboration with Nolan after previously starring inThe Dark Knight RisesandInterstellar.

What This Means For Nolan’s Next Movie
He’s Building An Ensemble To Rival That Of Oppenheimer
Not only does Hathaway’s casting continue Nolan’s unique trend of teaming with actors he’s worked with before, but also comes as the two are celebrating the10th anniversary ofInterstellar’s release. The Oscar winner has praised Nolan on multiple occasions for saving her career by casting her in the 2014 sci-fi epic, thus making her third collaboration with him a welcome return for her.
Zendaya’s addition to the cast is sure toraise further speculation about what genre Nolan’s next movie will be. The Golden Globe and Emmy winner may have broken out with the likes of the Disney Channel and blockbuster world of theMarvel Cinematic Universe’sSpider-Mantrilogy, but she has shown a wide versatility in her genre work, starring in everything from fellow blockbuster property, Denis Villeneuve’sDunemovies, to thought-provoking material likeChallengers.
Holland is about to make his MCU return with a fourthSpider-Manmovie, though Zendaya’s return has yet to be confirmed.
With two young stars known just as much for blockbuster work as grounded stories partnering with two stars better known of late for the latter, Nolan’s next movie could really go in either direction. Whichever it ultimately takes, though, it’s clearNolan’s next movie is aiming to build an ensemble to rival that ofOppenheimer’s cast. The majority of the filmmaker’s career has certainly accumulated major star power, though it’s undeniable that the 2023 biographic thriller was Nolan’s most star-studded of his career, with everyone from acting veterans like Damon to on-the-rise stars like Florence Pugh involved.
Our Take On Hathaway & Zendaya Joining Nolan’s Next Movie
He Must Be Planning Something Special
Though everyChristopher Nolanmovie can be considered a cinematic event, the sheer range of talent he’s already accumulated for his next project certainly has me intrigued for what it may be. The potential of a non-present-day storyline gives me some hope he will go for a classic noir detective story, particularly as I think both Holland and Zendaya would do wonders in that genre. However, with some of Hollywood’s biggest names attached, it’s clear that Nolan’s next movie is shaping up to be yet another unique outing for him.
