FBIstar Zeeko Zaki hopes that the storylines fromFBI: Most WantedandFBI: Internationalwill continue, even though both shows have been canceled by CBS. From TV veteran Dick Wolf, theFBIfranchise has been a staple of CBS' procedural lineup since the flagship series debuted in 2018. It expanded into multiple spinoffs, includingMost WantedandInternational, which explored different aspects of law enforcement domestically and globally. However, in early 2025, CBS made the surprising decision tocancel bothFBI: Most WantedandInternationaldespite being some of the platform’s biggest hits.

In an interview withScreenRant, Zaki addressed the recent cancelations ofMost WantedandInternational. ScreenRant: We heard the sad news [aboutMost WantedandInternational’s cancelation]. Do you think any of the characters currently on those shows could find a home onFBI?

Zaki: I have no idea, but I think, at the end of the day, even with the shows being canceled, the world still exists. I’m hoping that we get to still play with some of the actors and those storylines get to continue in some way, shape, or form in the Wolf Universe. But I am definitely not the one to know the answer to that question.

What This Means For The FBI Franchise

The Wolf Universe May Still Have Room For These Stories

The cancelation ofFBI: Most WantedandFBI: Internationalmarks a significant shift for the procedural series, but it doesn’t necessarily mean those storylines are gone forever. WithFBIcontinuing for at least an eighth and ninth seasonand the upcoming spinoffFBI: CIAin development, there is still room for characters from the canceled series to reappear. Dick Wolf’s franchises, includingLaw & OrderandOne Chicago, have a strong history of crossovers and character transfers, meaning CBS could still find a way to incorporate beloved agents into ongoing stories, much like Shantel VanSanten’s Nina Chase.

Why CBS Canceled FBI: International & Most Wanted But A CIA Spinoff Is Still Happening?

In a shocking turn of events, CBS has canceled FBI’s two spinoffs – FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. However, the franchise is far from over.

With multiple new projects in the pipeline, including spinoffs ofFire CountryandBlue Bloods,CBS’s decision to cutMost WantedandInternationalappears to be driven by logistical concerns rather than just ratings. However, Zaki’s hope for continuity withinthe Dick Wolf Universeechoes the sentiment of those who don’t want to see these characters disappear completely. Whether through guest appearances, crossovers, or even revivals down the line, theFBIworld still has plenty of opportunities to keep the spirit of its canceled shows alive.

Our Take On The Future Of The FBI Franchise

Canceled, But Not Forgotten

TheFBIfranchise may not be as dominant asNCISorLaw & Order, but losing two-thirds of its universe in one swoop stands to alienate longtime viewers. Yet, the existence ofFBI: CIAshows that CBS isn’t abandoning the brand entirely as they look to restructure theFBIlineup rather than downsize completely.

It remains to be seen whether the upcoming spinoff can fill the void left byMost WantedandInternational. For now, the future of various fan-favoriteFBIcharacters is uncertain, but if the past success of Wolf Entertainment’s franchises is any indication, it may not be the last time we see them.
