In an unlettered preview shared byAIPT ComicsforMagik#4 by Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta, Illyana Rasputin and Danielle Moonstar are working together to battle a horde of demons and the Sorcerer who’s conjuring them.
At first, the scene depicted here isn’t too out of the ordinary, especially when consideringthe iconic powers of Magikand Moonstar. Illyana is wielding her legendary energy broadsword, infused with otherworldly magic that she can freely bend to her will. Dani is firing her neural arrows made from pure energy, which is a power she’s had since practically the start of herX-Mencareer. However, Moonstar’s power just got an insane upgrade, as she’s capable of taking out a horde of enemies with a single arrow after calling upon deeper magic to do so - and it looks insanely epic.
Dani Moonstar’s Upgrade Makes Her a Way More Powerful X-Men Hero
Moonstar Can Wipe Out a Small Army of Enemies with a Single Shot
Danielle Moonstar was always apowerful member of the X-Men, even back before she was even technically a part of the X-Men, and was a member of the New Mutants. Her powers allow her to materialize mental projections, those from herself and from others. When she was younger, that power would go a bit haywire, and create danger for those around her. But, as she got older and refined her mutant power, Moonstar gained full control over her mutation, granting her untold potential.
Normally, Moonstar keeps herself in check by simply manifesting a bow and arrows, generating what’s called ‘neural arrows’ to take her opponents down without inflicting a deadly strike (most of the time). But now, Moonstar has the power - seemingly though magic, based on the visual given to fans in the preview - to take one mentally manifested neural arrow and turn it into several, capable of taking out a small army with a single shot. That’s an insane upgrade, and it makes Moonstar a much morepowerful X-Men hero.
This Isn’t the First Time Moonstar Got an Epic Upgrade
Dani Moonstar was Once a Valkyrie of Asgard
While this upgrade is, indeed, awesome, it’s far from the first time Dani Moonstar has experienced a god-tier power-boost in Marvel Comics. In fact, Moonstar once became a literal Asgardian Valkyrie. Not only did this upgrade make Moonstar an Asgardian - a literal god - but this power-boost also upgraded her pre-existing powers. Moonstar was so powerful as a Valkyrie, in fact, that she could even fend off Death herself by using her ‘Cheyenne ghost-shaft’ made from her image-projecting powers - and that’s just one of the many ways her baseline abilities got even more powerful as a Valkyrie.
