Zion is on his way to Thailand, but he has already appeared in the show. He was referenced and spoke with his mother on the phone back in season 3, but he’s also appeared on-screen in season 3. Indeed,he’s one of the first two characters we met this year, alongside Amrita(Shalini Peiris). He’s having a meditation session with her in the opening scene, when all of a sudden Zion hears gunshots. Things escalate from there, as he runs off to find his mom while the gunfire intensifies and gets closer to them.

In that opening scene,Zion and Amrita at least come close to being shot(and it’s still possible Amrita is one of the victims), with the glass of the room they’re in being shattered by bullets. What’s unknown, though, is whether that was a result of stray bullets, or if they were purposefully being targeted.

Jon Gries' Greg Hunt suspiciously goes by a completely different name in The White Lotus season 3 after trying to kill his wife Tanya in season 2.
Either option is plausible right now: if the shooting is connected to, say, the robbery we saw earlier in the season, it’s hard to imagine why they’d be taking aim at either character. But what if the gunshots were part of the Greg and Belinda story? He knows that she knows his identity, and given his past actions, that makes her a walking risk - something he may look to eliminate.

With all of that, Zion has become a major piece of the puzzle, and little does he know what he’s in store for when he gets to the hotel.
