Mr. Drummond Was Likely Looking For Harmony’s Hidden Designs In Severance Season 2

The Designs Proved Ms. Cobel’s Role In Creating The Severance Procedure

Upon traveling to Salt’s Neck,Ms. Cobel visits her aunt Sissy(Jane Alexander), a devoted follower of Lumon, despite the obvious negative effects that the company has on the town. The biggest reveal of the episode comes whenHarmony admits to Sissy that she was the designer and creative mind behind the severance chip, and, by extension, all the severance procedures that we have seen throughout the first and second seasons. The real reason Cobel returned was to retrieve her hidden designs which she stored in a bust she received for her performance inthe Wintertide Program.

What Was Up With Harmony Cobel’s Breathing Tube Scene In Severance Season 2 Episode 8?

Severance season 2, episode 8 included a weird scene involving Ms. Cobel and a breathing tube, leaving many to wonder what the purpose of it was.

Knowing how valuable this information is, it is unsurprising that Lumon would be trying to find Cobel’s designs. This becomes even more apparent when she asks Sissy if anyone from Lumon has tried to contact her and what they asked about, and Sissy informs her that Mr. Drummond (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) had called. Since Mr. Drummond would not want to expose his true intentions, the most likely reason for reaching out to Sissy directly was to see if she knew about Cobel’s role in creating the severance procedure and to find the designs before Cobel could get to them.

Was Mr. Drummond Having Sissy’s House Watched In Salt’s Neck?

Lumon Knew That Ms. Cobel Would Likely Visit Sissy

Given how important the severance procedure is to Lumon, keeping tabs on Ms. Cobel seems like it would be one of their highest priorities. Presumably, they knew that she had not visited Salt’s Neck since her childhood, but it still makes sense as her likely destination since, apart from Lumon, it is the only home she has ever known. Especially knowing that Mr. Drummond had already called Sissy to find out more information,it seems likely that he was also having Sissy’s house watched in case Cobel did show up there.

It is possible that someone in town tipped Lumon off or Sissy herself communicated with Drummond beyond him keeping watch.

Harmony Cobel herself is aware of this possibility when she asks her old friend to drive her to Sissy’s; this fear comes true when they see a car approaching while Cobel is confronting Sissy. It is possible that someone in town tipped Lumon off or Sissy herself communicated with Drummond beyond him keeping watch. However, the end ofSeveranceseason 2, episode 8 proves that Ms. Cobel is more dangerous than ever since Mr. Drummond failed to get the designs and Cobel now seems willing to help Mark reintegrate.
