Alex Parkinson’s debut drama movieLast Breathis coming to theaters. The film is a dramatized version of Parkinson’s own acclaimed 2019 documentary about a deep-sea diving accident in the North Sea, in which professional diver Chris Lemons was left stranded on the seabed with little oxygen left to survive on.Peaky Blindersactor Finn Cole stars as Lemons, while Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu play his diving colleagues, Duncan Allcock and David Yuasa.
Last Breathpromises to be a suffocatingtrue-story survival thriller, pushing new boundaries for underwater cinematography as it captures the inhospitable environment in which its real-life protagonist found himself trapped. The movie should be visually stunning and terrifyingly suspenseful in equal measure. Parkinson seems best placed to translate his own experience reliving the horrors its characters went through in a dramatization that underscores the gravity of their situation,330 feet underwater without the oxygen they need.
Focus Features has givenLast Breathan exclusive theatrical release on Friday, August 05, 2025. The movie has a PG-13 rating with a runtime of 93 minutes. Concurrently with its U.S. release, Elevation will be releasing the film in Canada on February 28th. A few weeks later, Entertainment Film Distributors will be releasing Last Breath in the UK on March 14th. Other international markets will see the film released throughout the next few weeks, as well.

There’s no official streaming release date forLast Breathas yet, although distributors havepenciled in its streaming release for Tuesday, July 23, 2025. Because the movie’s main distributor is Focus Features, a production company that’s part of NBCUniversal, it’s likely to end up on its streaming platform Peacock. On the other hand, Parkinson’s 2019 documentaryLast Breathis currently streaming on Netflix, so the streaming giant could be willing to pay a premium for the dramatized version once it’s available, too.
