The Demon Realm is the main new setting inDragon Ball DAIMA,sporting the usual Akira Toriyama flair while teasing a vast group of sub-realms in the form of the Three Demon Worlds. While not much is yet known about everything within them, the first three episodes have eased viewers into what their worlds contain and who may travel between them. But the Demon Worlds are slowly being teased, withDragon Ball DAIMAbringing Goku and friends to the Third Demon World, already showing a contrast to the First World in significant ways.

Dragon Ballhas never been shy about introducing new worlds, planets, and dimensions to its lexicon, with a not-insignificant number named after food. In this sense, the Demon Worlds ofDragon Ball DAIMAare given a more conventional naming scheme, but their allure lies in the bountiful mysteries binding them together or, in some senses, even cutting them off. As Goku, Glorio, and Shin explore the Third Demon World, there are plenty of new adventures and people awaiting them inDragon Ball DAIMA,with some characters' ancestry directly tied to the realm.

The Difference Between the Demon Realm and the Demon Worlds in DAIMA

A Basic Overview of Gomah’s Domain

As the Demon Realm is the collective three Demon Worlds inDragon Ball DAIMA, all under the Demon King Gomah’s purview, it suddenly becomes a vast collection of worlds and peoples with an implicit caste system. The pecking order of the Demon Worlds is as expected, with the First Demon World being the highest status and the Third being the lowest. As stated by Shin inDragon Ball DAIMAepisode #3, one used to be able to travel freely between Demon Worlds, but when he was young, a shield of light was placed between them, preventing passage.

First Demon World: The Palace Sub-Realm

Home to the Demon King

While each Demon World has a king, the ruler of the First Demon World effectively rules all others inDragon Ball DAIMA.After Dabura’s defeat by Buu inDragon Ball Z,Gomah took the mantle of this world’s de facto ruler, also the noteworthy home to Degesu, Dr. Arinsu, and Neva.Only palace members may travel through Warp-sama to the First Demon World. Still, as revealed inDragon Ball DAIMAepisode #3, Glorio “does work in the First Demon World,” initially indicated by his subtle appearance at the palace in episode #1.

While an ancestral home in the Second or First Demon World was not specified,Namekians originated from the Demon Realm inDragon Ball DAIMA. Neva’s residence in the First Demon World confirms their high status; Piccolo stated that his ancestors found their home nice but didn’t wish to be ruled over.

Not much of the terrain is yet known in the First Demon World aside from harsh red skies and a vast palace complex. With one ofNeva’s Tamagamis guarding the 1-Star Dragon Ballin the open outside the palace, it’s reasonable to believe that each Demon World also has a corresponding Dragon Ball. However, Degesu and Dr. Arinsu’s relationship with Shin and their Glind heritage suggests thatthose outside demon royalty can potentially climb the ranks, given what’s known about the Second Demon World inDragon Ball DAIMA.

Second Demon World: Home of the Glind

A Sophisticated Yet Mysterious Land

InDragon Ball DAIMA, as Glorio speaks with Shin, the topic ofShin’s people, the Core People, also known as the Glind, comes up in episode #3.It’s revealed that the Glind, like Shin’s ancestors, largely lived in the Second Demon Worldand that it’s of a higher class than the Third Demon World, yet still lower than the First, presumably with a corresponding Dragon Ball and ruler. It has the fewest details shown yet in the series, but this ambiguity leads to a fascinating potential for speculation about its isolated status inDragon Ball DAIMA.

Third Demon World: Hive of Scum and Villainy

Because the Outer Rim Is Already Taken

While the Third Demon World is looked down upon by the other sub-realms inDragon Ball DAIMA, it still boasts natural beauty and geological and biological diversity, including forests, deserts, and demon cities. The air is heavy in its atmosphere, slowing movement due to the volcanic gases produced there. The Third Demon World is the first destination for Goku, Glorio, and Shin, as Glorio only has clearance for the Third Demon World thanks to Kadan, its king, needing his help in defeatingGomah inDragon Ball DAIMA.

Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Shrinking Curse Could Actually Make One Classic Series Hero Stronger Than Ever Before

Dragon Ball DAIMA made the lives of its heroes more complicated with the shrinking of Goku and his friends, but one character may have benefited.

The Third Demon World’s denizens are of lower status, with bandits roaming the landscape and bar patrons raring for a fight, such as inDragon Ball DAIMAepisode #3. Here, the first glimpse of the shield of light blocking access to the other Demon Worlds is shown, covering the Demon Realm Tunnel in the process. With this much lore dropped in just the first three episodes, it’ll be fascinating to see what the rest ofDragon Ball DAIMAhas in store for its viewers in subsequent installments.
