They don’t want to anymore. So they dragged it out for a really long time. And I would have loved to have had that again. But oh, well.

10 Best Showtime Comedies, According To IMDb
While Showtime might be more known for its dramas like Yellowjackets, it’s also produced a ton of fantastic comedies.
The decision forthe series not to come back also coincides with Showtime’s revival of some of their more popular series. This includes theupcomingDexter: Original SinandDexter: Resurrection, a prequel and sequel series toDexterrespectively, as well as four spinoffs of the business dramaBillions. Because the network is prioritizing the continuation of their successful dramas in different forms, it seemsWeedshas fallen to the wayside, potentially because of the other revivals and continuations the network is currently pursuing.

A Disappointing Update For A Classic Showtime Series
While the original series managed to offer a definitive ending for Nancy after her lengthy journey, a potentialWeedsrevival would have been interesting to see, especially after so much time has passed. While it’s understandable why Showtime is prioritizing series likeDexterandBillionsto expand them into franchises, the dark comedy could easily fit into their lineup if they’d decided to follow through with it.Now that the project has been shelved, though, it seems unlikely to come back for good.
