For context, the pair’s relationship follows a long line of slow-burn romances in the police procedural. Unfortunately, despite their clear feelings towards each other, Emily Wickersham’s decision to leave the show effectively ended their connection. Unlike Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, there doesn’t seem to be any chance for reconciliation, so Nick moving on makes sense.

It’s A Good Way To Expand His Story Beyond Being Part Of MCRT
Ultimately,giving Nick a new love life is a good way to develop his personal story. Almost everyone from the MCRT currently has something going on for themselves besides solving crimes for the organization. EvenParker has a mystery with Lily. However, with Nick’s family drama already resolved inNCISseason 21, he has been mostly resigned to being part of the agency, with barely any arc outside of Navy Yard. Admittedly, seeing him date someone else would be difficult for anyone who rooted for him and Bishop, but Wickersham is gone and is unlikely to return.
