A new character has been revealed in aWallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowlclip. TheupcomingWallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowlis the second feature-length movie to star the iconic stop-motion animated title characters, who were created by Nick Park and have been staples of the Aardman Animations library since their debut in 1989. The new movie, which will premiere on Netflix, also features the return of fan-favorite series villain Feathers McGraw, who originally appeared in the 1993 short filmThe Wrong Trousers.

The short clip reveals Wallace unveiling his latest invention, the “smart gnome” Norbot (voiced by Reece Shearsmith), who shakes Gromit’s hand a little too vigorously, ominously foreshadowing glitches that are to come over the course of the movie. The newWallace & Gromitmoviemarks the first time that the pair have appeared in a new project together in quite some time. Although quite a few installments in the extended universe have premiered in the meantime, including 2015’sShaun the Sheep Movieand its 2019 sequelA Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon,their last official appearance was in the 2010 seriesWallace and Gromit’s World of Invention. The world has changed considerably in the intervening 14 years, leaving them with a lot of catching up to do.

The character of Norbot that this newWallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowlclipintroduces seems to bean attempt to bring the iconic characters up to speed by satirizing modern “smart” technologyand AI-driven virtual assistants such as Siri or Alexa. In the same vein as movies ranging from 2013’sHerto 2022’sM3GAN,Vengeance Most Fowlseems set to put its own spin on the phenomenon, which it is perfectly set up to do considering the fact that Wallace has always been an inventor whose machines have been known to go wrong.
While it is updating the premise for the modern era, this teaser reveals thatWallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowlis also keeping its atmosphere as consistent with its earlier era as possible. In addition to the return of the villain from the 1993 short, the overall tone of the humor and dialogue as well as the look of the characters and how they move remains unchanged. While their world might be slightly more modern, the way they interact with it should retain the classic quality that their shorts and features have always had.
