There are 45 unique classes inVisions of Mana, which can make it tough to select the best. Each of the five main characters has nine class options, each divided into the correspondingElemental Vessel. These are gained at specific story points, but once unlocked can be used freely. While there are good classes in their own right, you need to also be mindful of team synergy. It might be overkill if you make a full team of healers or have no one that deals great damage.

It is also important to know whichplayable characters you have access toduring the storyline. The protagonist,Val, is along for all ofVisions of Mana. But, there may be times when alliesCareena,Morley,Palamena, andJuleimay not be around. This is mostly near the start of the game, but other instances can arise as part of the plot or during a side mission. When that happens, you may want to change your current classes.

Unlocking the Best Classes in Visions of Mana

You Gain Options As The Plot Unfolds

Similar to its predecessor,Trials of Mana, you also beginVisions of Manawith only a standard base class. In that other title, you would eventually need toplant seeds to gain higher end classes. But, now you can simply play more of the story to gain the classes you truly want. Still, a great class might not work on all bosses and there is an additional backup.

Visions of Mana Review: Reminds Me Why I Fell In Love With This Series In The First Place

Visions of Mana is the latest entry in the long-running JRPG series from Square Enix, but is it the comeback the franchise really needed?

YouTuberKakuchopureishowed off all the powerful attacks each class uses. This includes Class Strikes for the more melee inclined, and Elemental Transformations to bring out more magical powers. Still, there isn’t a huge amount of visual variety as most classes use the same base weapons.

Both Julei and Palamena join on later inVisions of Mana. While you technically have their Elemental Vessels to unlock the classes early, you can’t utilize them until they are truly playable. Consider the class “locked” until they officially join the team.

Val - Up Close Tank

As the main character ofVisions of Mana, Val serves as the main melee damage dealer. This makes him similar toparty members fromLegend of Mana. As aDuelist, Val can dish out a lot of pain quickly and can even paralyze foes in their track.Liegeis even more defensive and even has buffs to improve the whole party’s damage. However, relying on tanking and survival means the enemy will also last much longer.

Careena - Powerhouse Skirmisher

Careena is all about offense, making her almost the opposite of Val. Still, she has options for survival or assisting the party.Divine Fistups her hitpoints and physical defense, allowing her not be such a glass canon. As aDragon Master, she can both buff her teammates and weaken enemies. However, she still relies on others toexploit elemental weaknesses.

Morley - The Elusive Gish

The Etaern native begins as a typical rogue, but can dabble in a bit of various magic skills. As aNinja Master, he is nearly an additional mage on the team, able to both cast and self-heal. Switching toSoothsayermakes him one of the best debuffers and can completely shut down enemy magic users.

Palamena - Unstoppable Magic

The Queen of Illystana shows up during the second chapter ofVisions of Mana. Her spells are the most direct and destructive of the five characters.Grand Divinercan quickly cast, allowing Palamena to spam a barrage of magic. This is powerful but can lead to issues with conserving mana. As aMagus, she becomes a high risk-reward caster as she deals more damage the lower her current hitpoints. As long as you can keep her protected, Palamena will easily destroy the enemy.

Julei - Reliable Healer

Finally, the Sporutling Juley is the final member to join theVisions of Manacrew.Sageis the emergency healer, who can quickly heal the whole team or quickly resurrect them when things go bad.High Clericis a more practical and classic option, as it focuses on removing status effects and sustained recovery instead of an instant panic button.

While the mentioned are superior class options inVisions of Mana, you need to be flexible. Obviously, you should mainly use classes you feel comfortable playing, even if they do have raw power. Additionally, most of these recommendations only come in by chapter five, requiring you to use worse options during the early campaign.
