I’m having a blast writing it now and Jorge and Mike are absolutely slaying the art. I am going to be writing for a total of 24 issues…Honestly, I’m having so much fun I would love to(stay on for more). But when I make anything, writing, drawing, or both, I only know how to go 110 percent. So all that to say, I’m killing myself and can only go for so long. My choice to leave at 24 is more of a choice for my mental health and for my family than however I may feel about my wonderful Cybertronians.

Daniel Warren Johnson’s run onTransformershas been a massive success since its launch last year, helping to position the Energon Universe as one of the most successful lines currently going in comics, and garneringJohnson two Eisner Awards for his work on the title, for “Best Continuing Series” and “Best Writer/Artist.”

The accolades are well-deserved, as Johnson has re-energized the franchise, and produced a title that’s every bit as nuanced and heartfelt as it is packed with blockbuster entertainment. Fans were concerned when Johnson stepped down as the series' artist afterTransformers#6, but those concerns where quickly allayed whenJorge Corona took up the art duties. Of course, with John leaving the title completely after twenty-four issues, the question of who will follow hot on the heels of such a historic run will be at the forefront of readers' minds over the next several months, until a successor is announced.
