CUT

TRIM

This one was a bit tricky for me as I thought CUT and TRIM likely went together but was looking for words closer to those two meanings. I did not think about them as a particularoffering at a hair salon.

This might be because it’s been years since I stepped foot in one, preferring to just let my aunt trim my hair when it gets too uneven, but the BLOWOUT word should have been a bigger clue to me.

A character jumping on a Connections board.

PAN

SLAM

I was fairly certain thatBASH, BLAST, and SLAM went together, but I was looking for more of an explosive word to be the fourth one. This made it a little harder to guess that PAN belonged here. It has been a while since I have heard anyone use it in that context.

If nothing else,Connectionsis a great way to refresh your vocabulary on obscure uses of words. In particular, I thought SACK might belong here before I thought of PAN.

10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

SCORE

SNAG

This one felt like the easiest category to me today, as BAG, SCORE, and SNAG all stood out to me. If I had clocked the sports theme of the last category before I did this one, SCORE likely would have been a big red herring, but averse as I am to sports, I got a little lucky here to guess that I waslooking for words that meant obtaining something. LAND was the hardest one to add to the category for me, but it happened faster than some of my guesses with the other categories.

SACK

YARD

My sportsball knowledge is decent all considered, but it is not my first thought when I see any of those words since I don’t think about it as often as possible. Perhaps I should have known better, as most of my family is currently very happy and celebrating the return of football to their weekly routines.

Luckily, my family’s influence has sunk in somewhere, because I did seethe connection to football-themed wordsafter a little while.
