Today’s Connections Category Hints

SEPTEMBER 19 #465

If you want to make the most of today’s puzzle while still getting some tips, we can provide a few clues to help you out without giving too much away.

8 Vertex Strategies To Quickly Solve The Picture

The New York Times Vertex game asks you to form a picture by connecting dots, but you have to understand the image to solve this puzzle quickly.

If that still is not enough hints for you, we have more coming. Many times, just knowing the category name is enough to push you to the end.

OVER

SUPER

SeeingOVER and SUPER next to each other clued me into this category. Continuing from that, I saw EXTRA and got a bit excited. Lastly, as I searched for that final word, I saw HYPER and felt that I had gotten it right. My test of the system proved correct, which made me quite happy, as guessing what feels right does not always end well.

DINNER

SURPRISE

This one very nearly ruined my puzzle experience, as I was convinced that REUNION was part of this category. Luckily, I decided to swerve away at the last moment possible, saving my winning streak for today. Looking back, I likely should have realized sooner thatREUNION does not belong in the same way the other four words do, but that is often howConnectionsgoes.

8 NYT Spelling Bee Strategies To Keep Your Streak Alive

The Spelling Bee puzzles created as a New York Times game build a streak of correct answers to get you more points, but they can be hard to keep.

NATURE

NOVA

I am not sure if I have watched FRONTLINE, at least not in a very long time, but having grown up onmostly PBS-only shows, I recognized MASTERPIECE, NATURE, and NOVA a bit easier. However, I did not recognize it right away, and it was not until after I cleared the purple category that I was able to figure it out. Even then, I said to myself that these must all be television shows before I realized why I recognized them.

NICE

REUNION

Left with the words in the last two categories, I looked at all the options and noticed that ANGERS looked different. It is an odd verb form, unlike anything else in the puzzle if it was in English, so I did a quick search to see what else it might represent. As soon as I saw itwas a city in France, I automatically added NICE and CHAMPAGNE to the category, with my multiple years of French finally coming in clutch. The only word left that made sense was REUNION, and fortunately, it was right.
