Today’s Connections Category Hints
AUGUST 18 #433
If you need some clarity on what the categories might be, you may check out a few hints to help you get started:
Knowing the categories is half the battle inConnections, and sometimes I wish I knew what they were ahead of time. Particularly on this puzzle, it might have saved my bacon. Here are the names:

SNOOZE
TIME SET
There are many time-adjacent words that these could be related to, butperhaps the two biggest clues are SNOOZE and TIME SET.SLEEP is a possibility, but less likely than the others on this list. ALARM and HOUR are a little more generic, and as many people mainly use phones as alarms now, they can be a little tricky to get right.
SUPPOSE
WHAT IF
Entering the realm of the hypothetical could be as dangerous asThe Twilight Zoneor as easy as venturing into this question. In this case, the hypotheticals are all combined to make a real category. In other situations, these four words might be extremely dangerous. However, sometimes, these are the right words to use and can lead to big possibilities and dreams coming true.
8 Vertex Strategies To Quickly Solve The Picture
The New York Times Vertex game asks you to form a picture by connecting dots, but you have to understand the image to solve this puzzle quickly.
RUNT
WHOPPER
WHOPPER makes sense, and KISS can be used in the singular when it follows the brand name, but NERD and RUNT are almost never used in the singular, and that threw me for a loop. Luckily, it was not a long loop, but I still wasn’t sure why these things were grouped until I saw the category name. I will say I am a sucker for Nerds candy, particularly the gummy clustersthat are absolutely addicting.
GRUMP
SLEEP
It turns out thatrecognizing the classic Seven Dwarfs without the last letter is quite difficult. Especially when SLEEP can fairly easily be pictured with ALARM, the other three have other meanings beyond the names. It is much easier to see how they go together now, but I was a little confused going into this one. I could have sworn DO-C had another name, but apparently, I might actually be crazy, so that’s something.
Other Games Like Connections
Once you have finished googling all the names of the various dwarfs and learning that, apparently, nearly nine other dwarfs were cut from the film (for good reason), you might find yourself itching to do another puzzle.
