If you are struggling to finish off today’sConnectionspuzzle, you can get some hints and tricks to get to the end of it. This was an interesting puzzle, particularly with the two middle categories. I didn’t necessarily find it to be easier or harder, but I did find itdifferentfrom a lot of otherConnectionspuzzles. I was able to get some hints for you from my own solution to the puzzle, and they are ready and waiting for you down below.
If you want to try a different type of word puzzle, but thedailyWordlepuzzleis one of the better ones. It is fun and usually a little easier thanConnections, at least for someone who is quite good at spelling when I stop to think about it. I spent a lot of time learning thecomplex and very superfluous rules for English spelling, and it’s helpful when I am trying to guess what the word is in each daily puzzle.

Today’s Connections Category Hints
APRIL 09 #668
If you are looking for some hints that will help you finish this puzzle, you are in the right place. There are a large number of possibilities for what could happenin a given puzzle, and I found today’s puzzle particularly interesting. There are a surprising number of words that are all quite similar, and I was able to get to the end of it without too much trouble. Here are the hints I came up with:
12 Letter Boxed Strategies To Win Quickly
The Letter Boxed game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to connect letters to form words while using various strategies to win quickly.
If you are still looking for some clues, all of the category namesare listed down below. There are also a fair number of words that could be mistaken as going in other categories, so if you need a boost where that is concerned, you may look at the spoilers further down.

ORB
SPHERE
I did get this one first, and this one felt more obvious than the rest of the categories.ORB and GLOBE gave the game away, and BALL and SPHERE were the last two that got added in. I was a little worried as I felt like I remembered GLOBE being used in a puzzle not too long ago, which I am not sure is true or not. But in the end, I was able to get this one without too much trouble and just a little bit of consternation.
SLUG
SOCK
This was where things started to get spicy for me, as I was trying to get this one at the very end of the puzzle. SLUG looks a lot like it should go with the animals and such in the next category, while POUND could go with HOUND,and the other words are a little unrelated at first glance. However, once I realized that SOCK was another word for a punch, I was able to put the category together right at the end of solving the puzzle.
NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast
This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!
FROG
NEWT
This one looks like a category full of animals, which is perhaps what makes it easier than the category name would make it sound. The big potential stumbling block here would be SLUG, which makes it a little harder, particularly since I would put SLUG with FROG and NEWT faster than I would put DOG or BAT. Luckily, I happened to solve the purple category quite early, which allowed me to save the Shakespearean category for last.
HOUND
TROT
I actually got this category second today, which was a surprising turn of events, but I saw HOUND and TROT and thought about a foxhound. After that, I remembered what foxglove was, and I was able to figure out the rest.HOLE was the only word left I had associated with a “fox” before,as none of the other animal words made sense, and I couldn’t remember any other words that came after fox.
