InThe Immortal Thor #14by Al Ewing and Jan Bazaldua, Zeus has returned from exile, though he is touched by darkness as he speaks of the Wheel of Fate. As Zeus rampages, Thor flees with Hercules to strategize.
Zeus tracks them down and attacks Thor with lightning (that Thor easily avoids). But Hercules suggests Thor allowing Zeus to use his powers to their full extent. Zeus summons lightning within Thor, allowing him to take all of Zeus' strength.Thor proclaims he has the power of Zeus and Odin in one god, but Hercules senses darkness within his friend.
Thor Has Zeus' Power and the Darkness That Infected Him
Thor has faced some of the most powerful gods in the Marvel Universe before, but he faced a true rival when Midgard was invaded by a powerfulElder God known as Toranos, the Utgard-Thor. This powerful god laid waste to New York City, forcing Thor to use every bit of the Thorforce within him to send him away. Like Zeus, Toranos also cryptically spoke of the Wheel of Fate and carried a large wheel as a weapon. Thor defeated Toranos through the combined efforts of the Thor Corps, but Thor discoveredToranos was only acting on Gaea and Utgard-Loki’s behalf.
As the current All-Father, Thor is already more powerful than at any point in his history. Now he’s managed to steal Zeus’ power as well, taking his godly might to immeasurable levels. Unfortunately, the darkness that was hidden inside Zeus went along with his power and now it’s inside Thor. Just as Toranos and Zeus talked about the Wheel of Fate, the last page of Immortal Thor #14 ends with an image of the new Thor along with the chapter title “The Wheel” under him. Unfortunately,this power boost has a good chance of turning Thor into a truly destructive force.
The Wheel is Turning Thor into a Powerful Villain - Can He Resist?
Thor was able to stand against Toranos and Zeus when the darkness that was infecting them presented no danger to him. But now that Zeus’ power is corrupting Thor, he could use that power, plus the Thorforce, to usher in some powerful devastation. Toranos and Zeus are both capable of mass destruction and Thor was already stronger than both of them. With Odin and Zeus’ power flowing through Thor, forget about destroying planets, he could level entire realms. Hopefully, Hercules and Thor’s other allies have some way of helpingThorpurge this darkness before it’s too late.
