The developers ofMarvel Rivalshave officially disabled the use of mods, including those that allow players to customize their heroes with skins. NetEase states that the use of these mods violates the titles' terms of use, and though fans couldn’t get enough of Winter Soldier turning into DaBaby or Luna Snow morphing into Ariana Grande, it seems that those skins will no longer be useable moving forward.
Season one ofMarvel Rivalsjust went live early this morning, and with it came two new heroes from The Fantastic Four, includingThe Invisible Woman and Mr. Fantastic. While fans were thrilled to dive head first into the new maps,NetEase has revealed in an interview withIGNthat modding the game"carries the risk of getting banned."

Marvel Rivals Fans Can No Longer Enjoy Their Favorite Modded Skins
This Must Be A Hard Pill For Fans To Swallow
The start of Season One inMarvel Rivalshas just begun, bringing two new heroes, a plethora of balance changes, as well as new maps to traverse. Though fans are thrilled with the addition of The Fantastic Four,NetEase dropping this new information on mods must be extremely discouraging to some.Players love to be able to customize their heroes and, with mods being a bannable offense, fans can no longer customize their Rocket Raccoon into Stitch without fear of losing their hard-earned rank.
Marvel Rivals Latest Developer Diary Reveals Massive Changes To Heroes, As Well As A New Rank, New Heroes & More
The latest Marvel Rivals developer diary 03 showcases everything to expect from season one, as well as new heroes, balance changes, and a new rank.
This is not shocking information to the player base though, as they know that the majority of the money NetEase makes is from fans buying skins or the battle pass to obtain skins and other customization features. While, of course, there may end up being players who test the limits and defy the rules to use their Pochita Jeff skin, most would say it isn’t worth the risk.IGN also states that"Some have suggested mod makers may be able to issue workarounds for their creations,“but at the time of writing, mods are no longer allowedto be used withinMarvel Rivals.

Our Take: Will This Change Bring More In-Game Marvel Rivals Costumes?
Less Mods Could Mean NetEase Brings More In-Game Skins
Season one has already brought new costumes for players to purchase with in-game currency, but the skins that modders created were like nothing fans have seen within the title. They were extremely different, bringing their favorite characters from anime, video games, and even pop stars into the title with ease. This change might make some players upset, but maybe it means that NetEase plans on bringing more usable costumes in-gamethat players will enjoy.
As someone who never really used mods for games, this news is not shocking, as several other developers have made these changes as well. I think that there are plenty of in-game costumes to choose from as of right now for my personal taste, and there will only be more to come as time passes. For those who liked seeing the silly videos created by random off-the-wall skins created by fans, it seems that those times are coming to a close. With season one bringing amassive amount of new content, hopefully, this is enough to keep fans from getting too discouraged and upset about the mod ban withinMarvel Rivals.
