Because of the leading lady’s relationship with the show post its conclusion, however, it never felt like a legitimate possibility. That is, until now, when that same star’s comments indicate a change in tone and the potential for a reunion.
Miley Cyrus Is Accepting & Proud Of Her Disney Channel Roots
After the conclusion ofHannah Montana, Miley Cyrus was quite vocal about her being removed from the character and from Disney Channel. She went to great lengths to distinguish herself from the “clean” Disney Channel image and was very clear that the character was a part of her past. Cyrus even declared that Hannah Montana was “murdered” on a 2017 episode ofSaturday Night Live. While Cyrus has every right to want to move beyond her childhood career, her comments were disappointing to those like myself who grew up with the show who wanted to hold out hope for a reunion someday.
Luckily, it now seems that Cyrus is embracingHannah Montanaand the role the show and the character played in her life. During D23, Cyrus was celebrated as a “Disney Legend” and gave a heartfelt speech about howHannah Montanachanged her life. She expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity she had to be a part of the show and shared that she’s still proud to have played the character because she helped shape her in many ways. These sweet comments make the possibility of a reunion feel much more likely, as Cyrus now publicly shows admiration and appreciation for the show.
Selena Gomez Returning To Wizards of Waverly Place Is Good Precedent
Since the finale ofHannah Montana, Cyrus has seen great success in her music career and beyond. With this being the case, it’s easy to assume that she wouldn’t want to return to the children’s network that gave her her start. However, she could take a page out of Selena Gomez’s book and see it as an opportunity to revisit a defining moment in her career. Gomez has also seen massive fame since her Disney days, with her hit showOnly Murders in the Buildingand her popular beauty brand, but she chose to reprise her role asAlex in the upcomingWizards of Waverly Placereboot. After seeing all the excitement surrounding Gomez’s return, Cyrus could follow suit and reprise one of her most iconic roles as well.
