The long-awaited start of filming onTed Lassoseason 4 seemingly gets a cheeky update from star Nick Mohammed. Outside of series co-creator Bill Lawrence, who mentioned thatTed Lassoseason 4will function as something of a reboot, most ofTed Lasso’s cast and crew have been reluctant to acknowledge the reports that the hit Apple TV+ comedy is making its way back to audiences. That could be because Apple itself has yet to make an official announcement.
Mohammed, who plays Nate Shelley, looks to have playfully broken the silence. On his X account (viaDeadline), the actor made a video to announce rescheduled dates on his comedy tour,Show Pony. In the voice of Mr. Swallow, a character fromShow Pony, Mohammed notes thatthe May dates have been reshuffled due to some filming. Even though he doesn’t say what the filming is, and urges people not to speculate, Mohammedholds upTed Lasso’s familiar yellow and blue"BELIEVE"sign.

The two-time Emmy nominee mentions the cities impacted by the change of scheduling in the video. And, in addition, the performance and event venue,Cambridge Corn Exchange, made a post announcing that Mohammed’s show had been moved from May 7 to October 16. That could be instructive about the filming plans forTed Lasso’s return. In any case,Mohammed says in the video that the project he’s filming will be announced soon. Check out the video below:
What Mohammed’s Filming Tease Means For Ted Lasso Season 4
It Could Finally Be Happening
Well over a year after theTed Lassoseason 3 finale, there was finally some movement on season 4 as of August 2024. Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind the series, had started reaching out to the actors to check their availability in the hopes of getting the ensemble back together and starting up a writers' room. It’s since been reported that Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) are all in a position to return.
Reports have also indicated that Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) will not return as a main cast member due to his commitments with other projects, though he may make guest appearances.
None of theTed Lassoactors, including Waddingham and Goldstein, have said much, leaving it to lead star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis to announce what the future of the Emmy-winning series looks like. But, it seems if Mohammed is right, and teasing in the right direction, it may be only a matter of time before Apple TV+ makes season 4 official with a press release.
Our Take On Ted Lasso Season 4
There’s A Creative Tension At Play
Whichever shape the new iteration ofTed Lassotakes, it won’t look like the seasons that came before. The show was intended as a three-season story. Part of the reason it’s going beyond that is because it’s one of the biggest hits on television. Whether that financially-driven fact can be reconciled with a new chapter that’s worth starting will be an interesting throughline to track.
