The actor recalls that the scene in question was challenging for a number of reasons, including her fear of heights, but also because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out her comments about the experience below:

“We had a stunt rehearsal for that. So they had me harnessed up and they kind of just pull me up into the air. I’m a little bit afraid of heights so this was a challenge at first, but it actually kind of ended up being fun.

This shot, I think we only ran it once just to get used to the feeling of the harness and how to kind of position your body when you’re up there because it can be a little bit uncomfortable, especially being lifted off of the ground. We just had an hour of so of practicing it and then we did it on the day. Butwe did it maybe a year and a half later after this rehearsalbecause this was pre-COVID.

So we rehearsed it thinking that we were going to shoot it the next week and then everything changed. The world stopped for a bit. They were just like, ‘Oh yeah, you’ve got to remember that.’ It was all fine."

What’s Next For Max After Stranger Things Season 4?

How Sadie Sink’s Character Could Return In Season 5

Though Max survives her brush with Vecna in “Dear Billy,” she’s not so lucky in theStranger Thingsseason 4 finale. Vecna blinds Max and breaks all of her limbs, and it’s only Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) powers that keep her from dying. When season 4 ends, Max is left brain-dead and in a coma, and it’s unclear what the future holds for her.

Stranger Thingsseason 5 is currently in production and will release at some point in 2025.

The fact that the show makes such a big deal of Eleven reviving Max would suggest Sink’s character still has a roll to play in the upcoming season, which will serve as the show’s last. Plus, Sink has been pictured at a table read and inStranger Thingsseason 5 set photos. Presumably, Max will somehow be awoken from her coma, but how this could happen remains unclear. Some theories have suggested that Vecna could somehow take control of Max’s body, essentially turning Sink’s character into an instrument of his destruction.

1 Vecna Line Might Reveal How Max Can Be Saved In Stranger Things Season 5

Vecna might have subtly revealed to Eleven how Max can be saved in Stranger Things season 5, but that doesn’t mean it will be an easy mission.

It’s also possible, however, that Max, as such a fan-favorite character, will not be experiencing so dark a fate inStranger Thingsseason 5. Eleven’s powers, after all, have accomplished some stunning feats throughout the series, andBrown’s character could potentially find a way to restore her friend’s mind, even if she’s ultimately unable to heal elements of Max’s physical body, like her blindness. It remains to be seen how Max will feature inStranger Thingsseason 5, but the power of the “Dear Billy” episode alone certainly suggests that Sink’s character is one to keep around.
