After months of requests,Starfieldplayers were finally treated to the Rev-8, a land-vehicle that makes exploring planets fun butit didn’t take long for the community to question whether it could be even better. Much like any feature added to a Bethesda game, it was only a matter of time before the modding community got its hands on the space buggy and started implementing someoptimizations and improvements. They’re not necessary to enjoy drifting around barren wastelands, but they do make for a more comfortable ride.

Posted to Nexus Mods by creatorShadedness, the “Shade’s Vehicle Tuner” mod takes everything players love about the Rev-8 and throws even more flavor to the stew. The add-on implements new weapons, increased damage, and cargo storage, while also fixing various bugs that have plagued drivers trying to quickly zoom across the surface of a planet. What’s perhaps most impressive about the boosted weapon damage is that it scales with the players' level, meaning the Rev-8 can’t steamroll through particularly challenging enemies early in the game.

Many players will be pleased to learn that the expanded cargo storage included in “Shade’s Vehicle Tuner” isn’t just for show:It can be set to either 250KG or 500KG, making those trips to gather materials and resources all the more efficient. To make moving around even easier, the add-on also incorporates a summoning tool that allows the vehicle to immediately return to its owner so players needn’t worry about hunting for it after getting lost in a particular massive desert. Finally, every option and setting can be fine-tuned to allow users to achieve their desired experience.

The Rev-8’s addition toStarfieldwas a massive day for the community as players have requested a means to speed up planet-side exploration since the game’s launch. It may not fix the issue of most worlds being barren and lifeless, but avoiding tediously wandering around is a massive win for everyone. Whether more land-based vehicles will be added in future content updates remains to be seen but one has to hope Bethesda is working on alternative versions of the Rev-8.
