Everything We Know About The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie
The Mandalorian’s story will continue with a Star Wars movie. Here’s everything we know about the project, including cast, release, and timeline.
The Book of Boba Fett Really Has Damaged The Character’s Future
Boba Fett has been a tremendously popular character inStar Wars. In fact, Boba Fett has appeared in a surprising number ofStar Warsshows and movies. After initially appearing in the controversialStar Wars Holiday Special, Boba Fett joined the original trilogy in bothThe Empire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jedi. Fett then returned to the franchise in the prequel trilogy era as a child in both live-action inStar Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clonesand in animation inStar Wars: The Clone Wars.
More recently, Boba Fett played a role inThe Mandalorianseason 2, which dovetailed into Fett leading his own show,The Book of Boba Fett. Given the character’s extensive history in the franchise and how beloved the character has been for decades, it makes sense thatStar Warswould have assumed that this addition toStar Wars’TV shows would be a smash hit. Unfortunately, that ended up being far from true. In truth, for many,The Book of Boba Fettwas far from being one ofStar Wars’best TV shows.

Rather, the show was largely disappointing, even (or perhaps especially) for fans of the character. Although it was interesting that Boba Fett had somehow survived his presumed death in the Sarlacc pit inReturn of the Jedi, this felt like a pattern ofStar Warsbringing back characters who had almost certainly died (among them were Darth Maul and Palpatine). Worse still, the show simply wasn’t that compelling. Boba Fett became a crime boss on Tatooine, but the plot largely fell flat.
Of course, that outcome is far from Temuera Morrison’s fault; he has been a wonderful actor for the character. Nevertheless, this show’s reception does seem to have impacted the future of the character in the franchise. As it stands, it isn’t clear whether, or to what extent, Boba Fett will return toStar Wars, although it is confirmed that he will not be inThe Mandalorian & Grogu.
