Spider-Manhas been through more than his fair share of dangerous adventures, but he’s always come out in one piece. Now, Marvel is giving Spider-Man a quest so dangerous, he’ll need one of the most impressive healing factors in comics just to survive the dangerous mission Doctor Doom has sent him on.
The darkest journey for Spider-Man yet will kick off inAmazingSpider-Man#61, with Joe Kelly, Ed McGuinness, and Niko Henrichon. After the events ofBlood Hunt,Doctor Doom has become the Sorcerer Supreme. Not only has Doctor Doom inherited all of Doctor Strange’s powers, but also his responsibilities. Unfortunately, Doom has no interest in protecting Earth in the same way as the former Sorcerer Supreme. And that includes the former deals and bargains he kept in place for the sake of the world’s stability.

One of those bargains happened to be with the god Cyttorak, demanding the god protect Earth from cosmic threats, in exchange for Strange returning to renew the pact with every year. While acknowledging the value, Doom is nobody’s ‘errand boy,’ and is sending Spider-Man to do it in his place.
What Spider-Man’s New Resurrection Powers Mean For His Future
Spider-Man Could Die For Sorcerer Supreme Doom (But Will He?)
Spider-Man is synyonymous with a desire and responsibility to do whatever it takes to protect others, and that’s exactly what is making him the perfect tool for Doctor Doom to manipulate. A point proven when Spider-Man agrees to go in Doom’s place to round up everything needed to continue the pact with Cyttorak. But working to appease a cosmic god is a little bit more than Spider-Man is used to, which results inSpider-Man being granted a brand new powerful suit, one that gives him a healing factor unlike any other.
Spider-Man enjoys several superhuman powers, but a ‘healing factor’ hjas never been chief among them. His new suit allows Spider-Man to be revived from death, no matter how brutal or graphic, eight times.Marvel’s very own trailer even showcases just how badly Spider-Man will be wounded, and how he will rise again and again from death itself, all to complete his mission and save the planet under Doom’s command.

Our Take on Spider-Man’s New ‘Death Wish’ Mission
Not Even His Most Dangerous Mission Can Stop Spider-Man
Spider-Man has facedtonsof overwhelming threats before. Incredibly dangerous villains, such as Carnage and Doc Ock and the Green Goblin, but he’s always managed to survive and come out the other end. The fact that Spider-Man will need not one, buteightlives to complete this mission proves that it is by far the most dangerous task that the wall-crawler has ever set out to accomplish. WhileSpider-Manhas always had a pretty decent variety of powers to fall back on, now he can add a death-defying healing factor to his other impressive abilities, all thanks toDoctor Doom.
Amazing Spider-Man#61is on sale from Marvel Comics on November 11th.
