TheCoin Puzzle in Wood Side Apartmentsin the newSilent Hill 2 Remakerequires finding three different coins before attempting the puzzle. These coins are hidden throughout the apartment complex, and two require you tocomplete small puzzlesto find them.
This guide is for theStandard difficulty settings. Other difficulty settings may result in other solutions.
The puzzle box itself is in theReception roomof the apartment, covered by a sheet. Once you have gatheredall three coins,you may return here to solve the puzzle. Here is how to find them.
The Silver Coin
Heads For Man, Tails For Sword
Thesilver coin with the Man and Swordcan be found inRoom 206. Be sure to stop inRoom 108first, where you’ll find theGolden Apple Handleneeded for this first puzzle. Then head toRoom 208, where you’ll find a wardrobe with two golden hands, with one hand facing up. Place theGolden Apple Handlein the hand, which turns the hand downward andopens the wardrobe.
Silent Hill 2 Remake: How To Solve The Coin Puzzle (Wood Side Apartments)
The Silent Hill franchise is well known for its puzzles. Here is how to solve the Coin puzzle in Wood Side Apartments on Standard Difficulty.
Inside the wardrobe is a peephole showing aroom with a safe in the middle and drawings on the walls. Step to the side of the wardrobe to push it out of the way, where you’ll enter thehidden Room 206 behind it.Approach the safe and use the combination:13 Right, 7 Left, 11 Right. The safe will open and give you thesilver coin, with aMan on one side and a Sword on the other, and asteel key, which opens the hidden door at theend of the room.
The Gold Coin
Heads For Woman, Tails For Cross
Head toRoom 312to start this next puzzle, where you’ll need tocrawl through a ventin the small room to the west. Pick up theApple Juicefrom the table and drop it through thegarbage chute. A short cutscene will play, showing other trash being knocked loose, including agold coin,which rolls across the pavement outside.
Head back to the parking lot where you’ll find thegold coinon the ground, with aWoman on one side and a Cross Tombstone on the other. If you need help finding your way back out quickly,HarryNinetyFour’s video shows the easiest way back out.
The Bronze Coin
Heads For Flower, Tails For Snake
Thelast coincan be found at theapartment’s pool. You can reach the pool by jumping outthe window of Room 116. Inside the drained pool is astrollersurrounded by fog.
Be wary of enemies. The first time you clear some of these areas of the apartment,you may be ambushed by several different enemies.
Approach the stroller where you’ll pick up theBronze Coin, which has aSerpent on one side and a Flower on the other. You now have all three coins for the puzzle.
Solving The Puzzle
Answers To The Poem Riddles
You can now return to theReception roomwhere thecoin puzzle boxwas found. Each stage of the puzzle has a different poem that you have to follow by placing the coins in thecorrect slotswith thecorrect sides facing up.
There are five total slots along the bottom, so the answers will be written in accordance to whether or not the slots are filled, and if so, by which coin. The first poem’s answer isMan, empty, Woman, empty, Flower. The second poem’s answer isempty, Sword, empty, Woman, Flower. The third poem’s answer isempty, empty, Man, Tombstone, Serpent.
The final poem’s answer is up to the player, as it asks for your opinion onwho is to blame for the woman’s death. Place either the Serpent, Man, or Woman coinin the top slotto lock in your choice. Be sure to think carefully, as your decisioncould influencewhichSilent Hill 2 Remakeending you get.
