One of the best attributes of the Canadian comedyShoresyis its allegiance to hockey, and one of the best hockey details in the show is hidden withinthe characters of the Jims, the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs' three enforcers. In the course of rebuilding the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs from the ground up, Shoresy recruited several ringers from his own hockey past to help them start actually scoring goals. However, to help the Bulldogs set the tone from a toughness perspective, Shoresy also recruited three prison guards whose sole purpose on the team is to crack skulls.

The Jims are three First Nation former hockey players who take the ice on the same line, either at the beginning of the game or when there is a score to settle on the ice. They’re an important part of the structure that Shoresy puts together to first save the team from folding, then to go undefeated. Like many of the Bulldogs, theJims are played by real-life hockey players, but two of the three tough Natives (which is redundant) that Nat brings onto the team in the second episode of season 1 ofShoresyactually share another real-world connection.

Shoresy Season 5 Can Finally Fulfill The Biggest Jared Keeso Character Moment We’ve Been Waiting For Since Letterkenny Season 1

Season 4 of Shoresy saw Jared Keeso’s foul-mouthed former hockey player become a coach, but season 5 can provide an even bigger Jared Keeso moment.

Two Of The Jims In Shoresy Are Brothers In Real Life

Brandon And Jordan Nolan Both Played In The NHL

While there are plenty of real professional and semi-professional hockey players in the cast ofShoresy, the three Jims might be the most accomplished of the group. Jim #1 is the largest of the three Jims, and is played by Jonathan “Nasty” Mirasty, a veteran professional hockey player who reached as high as the Syracuse Crunch (the minor-league affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets) in his career. The other two Jims are played by Brandon and Jordan Nolan, real-life brothers who have both played in the NHL.

In addition to his modest acting career, Jon Mirasty was briefly a professional MMA fighter as part of TKO Major League MMA in Canada.

Brandon and Jordan Nolan are the sons of Ten Nolan, a former NHL player and long-time NHL coach. Brandon is Jim #2, the long-haired Jim, and he reached the NHL briefly as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. Jim #3 is Jordan Nolan, the most loquacious of the Jims by a fair margin, and also the most accomplished real-life hockey player on the show. Jordan has won the NHL’s Stanley Cup three times, twice with the Los Angeles Kings and once with the St. Louis Blues. He retired from the NHL after the 2020 season, just asShoresywas beginning.

The Jims' Last Name Is Never Revealed In The Show

It’s clear that the three Jims are modeled after the Hanson Brothers from the 1977 classic sports comedySlap Shot. Like the Hanson Brothers, the Jims' entire purpose on the ice is to wreak havoc and fight, and the fact that they’re constantly seen together makes it seem as though they’re supposed to be brothers on the show. As with many of the characters onShoresy, their last names are never revealed, so it’s impossible to tell if they share the same last name.

However, the Jims do not appear to be no reason to believe that they are despite the obvious spoof on the Hanson Brothers, as the main connection seems to be the fact that they’re all Indigenous Canadians, not actual blood relatives. The Jims are a quiet but important part of the Bulldogs, and their real-life connection is one of the better insider details forShoresyfans.
