Theending ofSeveranceseason 1did not do much to answer the many burning questions audiences had after its nine-episode story. As such, many of the overarchingquestions were left forSeveranceseason 2. Some of these questions have already been answered, especially withSeveranceseason 2, episode 7’s endingrevealing what is truly happening to Gemma/Ms. Casey. That said, the true history of the Cobel family has been left in the dark. That is, untilSeveranceseason 2, episode 8. Now, various mysterious elements of this family have been brought to light, be it Harmony’s remaining family members or those who have passed on.
Severance Season 2 Explains The Significance Of Charlotte Cobel’s Breathing Tube
Harmony’s Mother Needed End-Of-Life Care
One of these mysteries surrounded Harmony Cobel’s mother, Charlotte. The history of Charlotte’s life was first teased inSeveranceseason 1 when Harmony clutched a breathing tube donning a tag reading Charlotte’s name as she smashed up her shrine to Kier Eagan. InSeveranceseason 2, episode 8, this tube returned, with Harmony confirming it as her mothers.
It was revealed that Charlotte was Harmony’s mother and that she was ill, needing end-of-life care. The breathing tube was reportedly the only thing keeping her alive. Eventually,Charlotte died before Harmony was able to say goodbye, explaining why the latter keeps such a darkly intimate keepsake of the formerwith her at all times.

Did Charlotte Cobel Really Take Out Her Own Breathing Tube To End Her Own Life?
Or Was It Really Sissy?
One of the more short-lived mysteries ofSeveranceseason 2, episode 8 was who actually killed Charlotte. As she makes clear several times throughout the story, Harmony thinks that it was her aunt, Charlotte’s sister, who removed the breathing tube. However, Sissy later claims that Charlotte removed her own tube and ended her own life.
Who Sissy Cobel Is In Severance Season 2 & How She’s Related To Harmony
Severance season 2, episode 8 introduces a character named Sissy, calling into question how she is connected to Ms. Cobel and the overall world.
Severanceseason 2, episode 8 does not give a definitive answer either way, essentially leaving this up to the audience to decide. Charlotte’s life could not have been a pleasant one, so it is not entirely incomprehensible to believe she removed her own breathing tube. On the other hand, Sissy makes it clear that she detested Charlotte for being a non-believer in the ways of Lumon and the Eagans, meaning it could be possible she killed her own sister. Either way, big questions were answered about the Cobel family inSeveranceseason 2, capitalizing on a three-year-old tease from season 1.
