Pokémon Trading Card Game Pockethas debuted a brand-new kind of event, with players able to see their initial Wonder Pick choices before making a final decision. TheWonder Pick function ofPokémon TCG Pocketoffers players a marginally better chance at getting certain kinds of chase cards. When players choose a pack to Wonder Pick from, they have a one in five chance of getting the card they want. While these odds are low, a new event is improving those odds slightly, although it comes with a catch.

The new Sneak Peek event launched today inPokémon TCG Pocket(viaGame8) and offers a twist on the Wonder Pick function. Occasionally, players will be able to “sneak peek” at their selection in the Wonder Pick, allowing them to preview the card they selected. Players can then choose to select that card or choose another card as their final selection. The event runs through April 10, although not every Wonder Pick chosen during this time period comes with the sneak peek option. Players will be told once the Wonder Pick loads whether they have a sneak peek available.

How Sneak Peeks Improve Odds Of Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Wonder Pick

You Can Eliminate A Card If You Don’t Like Your Initial Selection

The new Wonder Pick Sneak Peek functionally grants you a second selection, if you don’t like the first card you chose. Although you technically receive two choices under the new Wonder Pick function, you’re actually choosing randomly between four cards instead of five with the second selection. So, while it might be easy to assume that you have a two in five chance of scoring your desired card with the Wonder Pick, you really have a one in five chance followed by a one in four chance.

“I Hate It”: One Card From Pokémon TCG Pocket New Shining Revelry Set Is Giving Fans The Creeps

The newest set in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has officially launched, but it’s not a new shiny that has captured everyone’s attention.

The major flaw with the new campaign is thatthe sneak peek function doesn’t trigger with every Wonder Pick selection. Players won’t know if their Wonder Pick is eligible until after they’ve selected their Wonder Pick pack. Right now, it’s unclear what triggers a Sneak Peek or what the odds are of it being triggered. However, you will be informed via a graphic if you pick is eligible, so players won’t have to worry about whether they’ve squandered a Sneak Peek selection.

Our Take: Interesting Idea, But Flawed Execution

The Limited Nature Of This New Campaign Makes Sneak Peeks A Bit Too Unfriendly

The Sneak Peek campaign is a cool concept but has a major flaw to it. It’s set for a limited time, but not every Wonder Pick is eligible for selection. If the Sneak Peek function was a permanent feature, I wouldn’t mind the randomness. However, limiting it to just one week makes the Sneak Peek feel too capricious and arbitrary – just like the actual Wonder Pick function. This is a coolPokémon TCG Pocketconcept, but it still needs a bit of work tomake it truly player-friendly.
