With the new Might and Mastery season kicking off inPokémon Go, one of the first Catch Mastery events features the prehistoric bird Pokémon, Archen. Unlike other events, the Archen Catch Mastery event will be a single-day event onSunday, March 16th, from 10 am to 8 pm local time.
Since the Archen Catch Mastery event is taking place during the middle of thePokémon GoFestival of Colors event, which runs from March 13th to March 17th, there will be no raids specific to this event. Instead, all raids will be focused on the Festival of Colors, while this event will primarily affect wild encounters and research tasks that take place the day it is happening.

All Pokémon Encounters During Catch Mastery: Archen Event
Travel Back In Time For A Chance At Some Prehistoric Pokémon
In addition to the obvious encounter, Archen, you will be able toencounter Omanyte and Kabuto during this event, with increased odds at shinies for all three of these Pokémon. Note, however, that Archen’s will primarily be through the event tasks and rewards, while the others will be wild encounters. Since this event is primarily focused on encounters, another big aspect of it will be physically catching these Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

All Catch Mastery: Archen Event Rewards
Complete Tasks For An Increased Chance At Catching Shiny Archen
As for the event rewards, they willprimarily be focused on Archen encounters, with increased chances of beingshiny in Pokémon GO. Since the requirement to evolve Archen into Archeops is relatively low (about 50 candies), you should have no problem evolving one during the duration of this event with the number of encounters that will be available.
Since you may not catch a shiny until later in the day, try not to waste candy evolving one of these Pokémon as soon as you have enough candy to do so. Save it for either a shiny or your highest base CP, so you make the best use of the candy.

Additionally, with the increased encounter rates of Kabuto and Omanyte and their low evolution requirements as well, evolving those should be well within reach for players hoping to get their hands on a potential shiny Kabutops or Omastar.

Keep in mind that even if you’re not able to complete every task during the event, it’s still worth trying to do what you can since the event runs for most of the day. A list of the rewards for each research task type can be found in the table below.
Primarily Archen encounters, with increased shiny odds.
Complete 10 Timed Research Tasks for a total of 40 Archen encounters with increased shiny odds.
Complete Paid Time Research tasks for 40 additional Archen encounters, with increased shiny odds.
While it’s not a particularly eventfulPokémon Goevent due to the lack of raids and only a few Pokémon-type encounters, it’s a nice casual thing to do while also participating in everything going on with the Festival of Colors event. It’s also a great way to earn some extra XP.
