Most impressive of all is the mask, which looked like it stepped right off the screen. The faceplate is given a silver sheen, and thetriangular white eyes amazingly recreateBruce Timm’s iconic stylein real-life.

Andrea Beaumont inBatman/Catwoman

Created for theMask of the Phantasmfeature film, Andrea Beaumont was portrayed as Bruce Wayne’s first true love. Bruce almost leaves his quest for justice behind for Andrea, until her mob boss father is killed and she leaves Bruce behind for her own mission of vengeance.Bruce encounters her many years later, only to discover that she has been offing her father’s murderers as the masked Phantasm. Despite many proclaiming it asthe best Batman film of all time, Andrea was absent from the main DC Comics continuity until writer Tom King decided to bring her into the fold in his climacticBatmantale.

Although meant to be a surprise twist in the movie, the reveal that Phantasm was actually Andrea Beaumont was spoiled by the tie-inMask of the Phantasmaction figure.

TheAndrea Beaumont seen inBatman/Catwomanis very similar to her animated counterpart, but this time she has a 14-year-old son.The series by Tom King, Clay Mann and Liam Sharp takes place in three different timelines. The segment in the past features Batman and Catwoman’s earl dalliances. The story in the present sees Andrea Beaumont entering Bruce’s life again to request his help in finding her missing son. The story in the future follows Bruce and Selina’s daughter Helena taking up the family mantle after her father dies. The series goes even darker than the 1993 film, as it’s revealed that Andrea’s missing son was actually murdered by the Joker.

Phantasm’s Mission of Vengeance

Andrea Beaumont Seeks Revenge on the Joker

Whether in animation or in the comics, Phantasm is always closely tied to the Joker.Allornothingcosplay highlights this in his original post, quoting an iconic line from the film: “You’re not smiling, Joker. I thought you found death amusing.” That was the key difference between Bruce and Andrea, with one driven solely by revenge, and the other more out of a sense of justice. WhileBatman/Catwoman’s official status as being in continuity is in question, there is still room forPhantasmto come back, and Allornothingcosplay’s incrediblecosplaywork is a nice reminder that the Gotham villain is a major part of theBatmanmythos.
