Claire’s Visions Are Another Hint That She & Jamie Won’t Get A Traditional Happy Ending
Something Heavy Is In Their Future
Leading up to theBattle of Monmouth inOutlanderseason 7, Claire had periodic visions of her and Jamie sitting together under a starry night sky. It seemed as if the peaceful, sepia-toned scenes were carrying on at the same time as all the action. Though Jamie was preparing his battalion and Claire was prepping the hospital,a part of them was together in this mysterious, starry world. This continued even after Claire was shot. Though she lay dying in the hospital, Claire and Jamie continued their talk about death and love in the mysterious sepia field.
Jamie and Claire’s conversation during these sepia scenes ended with the conclusion that,just as the stars would never burn out in this magical place, neither would they. This moment implied that even if Claire or Jamie died, their spirits would remain together here—a realm where they were profoundly connected. While this certainly had an impact on the suspense surrounding Claire’s life inOutlanderseason 7, it seems as if this will again come into play inOutlanderseason 8—especially since Claire had another vision in the following episode.

He explained she would understand in time before again disappearing. It’s implied that Master Raymond is referring to the reveal that Jamie and Claire’s daughter Faith may have survived, but the truth of this is still unclear. All that can be confirmed is that Claire has a difficult journey ahead of her, and all these omens suggest thatOutlander’s ending may not be what we expect.
Outlander Season 1 Also Hinted That Claire Or Jamie Will Die
Growing Old At Fraser’s Ridge Might Not Be In The Cards
If Jamie and Claire (and audiences) could choose an ending, it would involve growing old together at Fraser’s Ridge. However, hints throughoutOutlandersuggest that he isn’t their destiny. Back in season 1, Frank sawJamie’s ghostlooking longingly at Claire in the 20th century. The implication here is that Jamie would die in the 18th century but wouldn’t be joined by Claireany time soon. She would travel back to the 20th century, leaving Jamie’s spirit to wait over 200 years for her to join him. As ofOutlanderseason 7, the reality of this is still a mystery.
It’s clear inOutlanderthat Claire has an important destiny. It was prophesized that she would come fully into her healing power when her hair turned white—a hint that she would grow old.
