In the world ofOnce Human, players must choose between several different weapon skills to survive difficult boss battles and dungeons.Frost Vortexis one such build, which delivers an AoE Status effect using frost damage. This effect creates frost vortexes that swirl around enemies, damaging them for 30% Psi Intensity damage each second for four seconds.

This build primarily focuses on usingCrit Damage instead of Frost Damageto take down the health of enemies. However, the Frost Vortex effect, combined with several powerful mods and pieces of gear, creates anearly untouchable buildto keep you alive in even the hardest of fights. Here is what you need for the best Frost Vortex build.

Best Gear Loadout For A Frost Vortex Build

Best Weapons, Armor, And Alternates For The Frost Vortex Build

This build’s primary feature is using Crit DMG to take down the health of enemies while spawning numerous Frost Vortexes to provide healing.TheLonewolf Setis perfect for this build, as it provides increased Crit DMG and Crit Rate to maximize damage. TheKV-SBR Icy Rain SMGwill also be your primary weapon, with Crits granting a 40% chance to trigger Frost Vortex. This SMG combined with the Lonewolf Set will keep several vortexes constantly present at any given time. Combined with the mods further on in the guide, this creates a nearly unkillable build.

Lonewolf Set (4 pieces)

Falcon Set (1 piece)

Frozen Northern Pike

Your main goal will be to increase your Crit Rate as much as possible to trigger the Icy Rain SMG’s Frost Vortex ability. While the Lonewolf Set is perfect for this, the Falcon Setis also an acceptable substitute if needed. The unique shirt,Frost Tactical Vest, makes it so that your Frost Vortexes now alsogenerate Ice Spikesto deal additional damage. While frost damage is not as important as Crit Rate and DMG, it is still beneficial to increase your damage output as much as possible.

The best secondary weapon for this build is theRecurve Crossbow, which inflicts The Bull’s Eye on any Weakspot hit. Opening with a single Weakspot shot with the crossbowgrants 8% vulnerabilityagainst marked enemies. This crossbow also causes all weapons to have anadditional +15% Crit Ratefor 10s as well, fitting in nicely with this build.

How To Build The Best Fortress Warfare Tank Build In Once Human

In Once Human, there are many options for builds based around different weapons and skills. Here is how to build the best Fortress Warfare tank build.

Lastly, theFrozen Northern Pikeis aperfect melee weapon for this build. Its heavy attacks let you automatically generate a Frost Vortex on a hit once every 4s. It alsofreezes the enemy, giving you time to move away from enemies in close range. Any melee weapon would work just fine for this build, but the additional opportunity to generate a Frost Vortex is always welcome.

Best Mods For A Frost Vortex Build

Your Main Mods And What To Look For

The key to this build is theFrosty Blessing Mod, which restores 10% HP when a Frost Vortex despawns. This, combined with the Icy Rain for Frost Vortex generation on Crits, means that you will always have several Frost Vortexes active at any time. As these vortexes expire, you will gain 10% health for each one, which is exceptionally good healing. This combination makes afantastic tank buildfor surviving, even when taking massive amounts of damage.

Vulnerability Amplifier

TheFateful Strike Modthen increases this further by removing your ability to deal Weakspot DMG and instead increases both your Crit Rate and your Crit DMG.Lingering FrostMod, like the Frost Tactical Vest, further increases the damage from Frost Vortex depending on its duration. Lastly, theVulnerability Amplifier Modsynergizes with the Recurve Crossbow to add 8% vulnerability with The Bull’s Eye, for a total amount of 16% vulnerability on enemies marked by the crossbow.

Although you cannot deal Weakspot DMG anymore, youcan still hit Weakspots, which will trigger any special effects that require Weakspot Hits to activate. These hits will just not deal any additional damage.

Besides these primary mods, you want to focus primarily onCrit DMGwhere you can. While Crit Rate is most important, it unfortunately cannot be rolled as one of the additional attribute effects. Instead, you’ll want to find mods with theViolentmodifier, adding Crit DMG. You’ll also want to attempt to prioritize mods that increase DMG against Great Ones, Magazine Size, and Status DMG. Magazine Size in particular decreases the amount of reloading you need to do, as it synergizes well with Icy Rain’s auto-reload when a Frost Vortex forms.

Best Deviations For A Frost Vortex Build

Deviations That Boost Damage

The best Deviation for this build is thePolar Jelly, which can be earned by participating in Cargo Scramble minigames. Polar jellies can be thrown at enemies or auto-target them to deal continuous Frost Status DMG and force them to move towards you. It also increases your frost DMG dealt to these enemies even further, and creates additional Ice Spikes in Frost Vortexes within its radius.

Best Overall Damage

Polar Jelly

Creates an AoE dealing Frost DMG, increasing Frost DMG received, and adding Ice Spikes to Frost Vortexes in range

Best General Damage

Lonewolf’s Whisper

Attacks enemies with high damage, increasing damage dealt to targeted enemy

Best Defensive

Festering Gel

Forms a fortification when thrown, providing healing to player and nearby allies

Besides the Polar Jelly, theLonewolf’s Whisperalso does excellent damage to enemies, and will duplicate itself once an enemy is killed. Though situational, it can help quickly clear out smaller and weaker enemies by replicating and targeting multiple enemies.

Another good, general damage Deviation is theButterfly’s Emissary, which highlights Weakspots and deals damage to enemies. While the Weakspot feature is not as useful for this build, it could still help you find a Weakspot for the opening hit with the Recurve Crossbow. Additionally, the Butterfly can fly over and around difficult terrain, reaching enemies that the Lonewolf may not be able to get to.

TheFestering Geldeviation could also be a defensive option due to its ability to provide cover and recover Sanity Loss and HP, but it most likely will not be needed with this build. Ideally, you’ll be healing more than enough with the Frosty Blessing Mod and won’t need much more than an occasional activator. However, if you do find yourself struggling to stay healed in a particular dungeon or boss, the Gel could be a last-minute savior.

Best Cradle Setup For A Frost Vortex Build

Which Overrides Are Best For You

Cradle Overrides are powerful modifiers that increase or change how your build works, but vary depending on the season. However, in general, there will usually be several overrides that will stay consistent or have a relatively similar option in future seasons. TheAutomatic Weapon Enhancementhas been consistent in both Novice and Normal PvE scenarios, and increases DMG +20% when holding SMGs, Rifles, or LMGs. It automatically reloads 10% of magazine capacity when defeating an enemy, further adding to Icy Rain’s reload feature.

TheStatus Enhancementoverride increases Status DMG +25% for 3s, which adds another small boost to the Frost Damage you’ll be putting out.Sustained Suppressionis another elemental-based override that will increase Continuous DMG by +20% for 10s, and can stack three times. Both of these will further increase the elemental damage done by your Frost Vortexes.

Generally, offensive overrides such asTactical Combo, which increases DMG after reloading, orMaster Tactician, which increases DMG after using a tactical item, will also be acceptable options for further DMG increases. Besides these, there will continue to be multiple new overrides based on season scenarios. Use your best judgment and try out new Cradle Overrides in new seasons ofOnce Humanto further push your Frost Vortex build to new heights!
