TheNintendo Switchmay still largely be associated with family-friendly gaming, but players eager for something a little more intense should mark their calendars for the end of October. While the Joy-Cons may not be the best fit for shooters, titles likeDoom: EternalandSplatoon 3have adequately demonstrated that anything is possible with some decent optimization options. Having said that, the market for FPS games on Nintendo Switch is still fairly scarce, makingGSC Game World’s decision to port the entireS.T.A.L.K.E.R.franchise a win for fans.
Per a trailer posted toYouTube, GSC Game World confirmed thatS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone, which bundles togetherS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky,andS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 31.

Players interested in getting into the franchise can either purchase the entire package for $39.99 or pick up the individual games for $19.99 each. It may not be the kind of franchise Nintendo Switch players have been begging to see but it’s still great to see it available for a wider audience.
Should You Play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. On Nintendo Switch?
If It’s Your Only Option, Then Yes
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.is an odd FPS game that straddles the line between simulator and open-world action-adventure; Its controls can be cumbersome so getting to grips with everything can be daunting for new players. Those who want the full experience may do better to first play the franchise on PC, if that’s an option, as it provides a more forgiving control scheme that can be customized efficiently. Trying to navigate the radioactive world of Chornobyl whilebattling enemies and anomalieswith the Joy-Cons may be a little too frustrating for impatient players.
With that in mind,it’s worth remembering that GSC Game World has spent a great deal of time ensuring the games play well on Xbox consoles. The clunky controls have been fine-tuned towork better with a gamepadso Switch players who have access to a Pro Controller will likely have a much better time. At the very least, the games' dated graphics should ensure that it runs decently on the hybrid console despite its aging hardware.

Screen Rant’s Take: You Should Play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
There’s Nothing Else Like It
A strange, experimental, innovative approach to the first-person genre makes theS.T.A.L.K.E.R.franchise a must-play foranyone interested in shooters.I believe one has to dedicate enough time to understanding its barren open-world and plentiful systems, but once the learning phase is passed there’s plenty of enjoyment to be found in raiding the various abandoned structures littered across Chornobyl. TheNintendo Switchis the champion of older games looking for fresh players, so it’s great to seeS.T.A.L.K.E.R.back in the spotlightjust ahead of the sequel’s release.
