Night Courtstar and executive producer Melissa Rauch addresses the show’s original cast member departure. It was confirmed earlier this year thatIndia de Beaufort would be departing her role as Olivia Mooreafter two seasons, with sitcom veteran Wendie Malick taking over the role of district attorney. Rauch also spoke optimistically about de Beaufort coming back as a guest star:

India de Beaufort’s Olivia looking concerned in Night Court

“That is addressed in the premiere and we will find out where Olivia is currently. And I would say India is just forever a part of the Night Court family, so who knows what the future will bring?”

What Rauch’s Comments Mean For Night Court Season 3

An Original Cast Member Return Hasn’t Happened Yet

Neil’s exit was explained by Abby, briefly noting that the clerk had moved on with his new girlfriend. He was ultimately replaced by Wyatt Shaw, who is played by Nyambi Nyambi. It may well be the case that Olivia’s absence is handled in the same fashion, particularly becauseOlivia always wanted to move on from night court and its oddball cases. She wanted a more glamorous and fulfilling career, which is even touched on during Olivia’s final appearances in the series. Itpaves the way for Malick to return as Julianne, the chaos agent who shares history with John Larroquette’s Dan Fielding.

Night Court Season 3’s Olivia Replacement Is Exactly What The Show Needed After India de Beaufort’s Exit

Night Court has found the perfect replacement to play a new prosecutor after India de Beaufort’s announced exit from the rebooted sitcom.

So far, neither Olivia nor Neil have been announced as returning forNight Courtseason 3,but that could change in the future. But the reboot, from showrunner Dan Rubin, has been more focused on bringing familiar faces and notable names from the originalNight Courtcast. This includes Roz, played by Marsha Warfield, who recurs in the reboot and was a key cast member in the original.

Our Take On Olivia’s Potential Return

It Should Happen

Rauch, Larroquette, and Lacretta, who plays Gurgs, are the three remaining original cast members in the reboot. While it is not uncommon for shows to have to deal with cast alternations,Night Courtshould try to reward viewers who have invested in the series since its early episodes by bringing back Talwalkar and de Beaufort for at least an episode.
