Summary
A newWickedtrailer showcases Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero poised to be in the middle of the love triangle between Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande). TheBridgertonstar will be bringing his film and musical theater experience to the role of Fiyero in the cinematic adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. He is playing the role in thecast forWicked: Part OneandWicked: Part Two, which respectively adapt each of the musical’s acts packed with popular songs and thrilling story developments.
The newWickedtrailerspotlights Fiyero as he shows his charming and vainglorious personality, charming Glinda and other students at Shiz University, while an unimpressed Elphaba rolls her eyes. Check out the trailer below:

Glinda reading about Fiyero’s impending arrival inThe Shiz Gazette, and her squeal upon reading this news, demonstrates how Fiyero’s suave, playboy reputation precedes him. Nevertheless, Elphaba sees through his facade, hinting that there may be more substance to him than first meets the eye.
Fiyero Is Critical To Wicked’s Success
He Is The Most Important Character After Elphaba And Glinda
Other than Elpaha and Glinda, no one is more important inWicked’s storythan Fiyero. He has his own transformative arc andis integral to the respective journeys that Elphaba and Glinda go on, along with further complicating their relationship, and tying into the events ofThe Wizard of Oz. He is also at the forefront of many ofWicked’s best songs, including the whimsical “Dancing Through Life” and the passionate “As Long as You’re Mine.”
A strong performance from Bailey is just as important for theWickedmovies doing the Broadway musical justice as the performances of Erivo and Grande will be.It is promising that Bailey is beginning to receive more focus in the marketing, as most of the emphasis thus far has understandably been onErivo and Grande, but all three stars will be vital to the first movie’s success. Bailey’s star power fromBridgertoncould also generate more widespread appeal as he continues to be spotlighted further.
Even in the 30-second trailer, Bailey effectively channels Fiyero’s persona in the first act of the musical, making him seem like the perfect choice for the role. It is disappointing that the trailer does not feature any of his singing, but that is, unfortunately, a widespread issue in marketing any movie musicals, as it has become common to not emphasize the musical aspect in trailers. Regardless, Bailey’s Fiyero looks spot-on so far, makingWickedeven more exciting than before.
