What Ghosts Australia Means For The Growing Franchise

The Series Has Become A Global Phenomenon

Confirmation of an Australian version of the sitcomhighlights how much of a success the UK and US versions have been, justifying a more global approach to the series going forward. In both existing versions, the spirits shown highlight the history of each respective country, showing how different characters can make each show stand on its own. Thecharacters ofGhostsin the US are pulled from events like the Revolutionary War and prohibition, while the UK version has characters reflecting the Georgian and Regency eras, among others.

Ghosts Hinted At Season 4’s Big Twist Nearly 2 Years Ago

While Ghosts season 4 promises a big twist involving Jay and the house’s ghosts, this revelation was hinted at way back in season 2 of the hit sitcom.

This new rendition of the show will likely feature characters inspired by Australian history, offering a more unique dynamic than the other versions because of this. While there’s still plenty of mystery surrounding how the new sitcom will play out,the setting seems like it will offer a unique rendition that keeps the soul of its predecessors intact.Since there’s still plenty of info yet to arrive about its development, like who will be playing Kate and Sean, the series' current development stage means more information is likely to arrive soon.

Our Take On Ghosts Australia Being In Development

It’s A Good Sign For The Growing Franchise

The new version ofGhostscurrentlyin development proves how much a geographical change could be able to impact how the series gets presented. It also highlights the global success of the two existing versions, to the point where another rendition can be added perfectly into the mix while still offering something new. With a setting that has yet to be explored across the growing franchise, the Australian adaptation is a strong sign of how many different takes on the show could be created in the future.

However, with the new rendition of the show having the same premise as its predecessors, the series' confirmation leaves a desire for moreshows likeGhoststo be made using different approaches. Although the inclusion of a house setting will give the upcoming adaptation a familiar look to its predecessors, perhaps the Australian version can put a twist on its premise by going beyond just its main setting. This could allow for a much different approach to the series, giving it a story-based twist unlike anything seen in the previous renditions.

With very little known about how the series will progress, though, there’s no telling how the Australian version will stand out aside from a new setting allowing for a plethora of interesting new characters. Becauseboth existing versions ofGhostsrely heavily on the spirits introducedto help further their respective stories, a similar structure is likely to be utilized during the forthcoming remake. Since it will likely be running while the US version of the show is airing, there’s potential for comparisons and contrasts to be made, depending on just how much it differentiates.

The Series Is Becoming A Full-Fledged Franchise

Australia adaptingGhostsand the ongoing development of another series in Germany means the show could become a global franchise. The series could follow the same path asThe Officeremakes, with the original UK rendition spawning both a US remake and spawning 12 other international remakes. This includes one from Australia, set to debut on Prime Video on October 18. But because of differences like the US’Ghostsexploring the Woodstone B&B’s historyand the UK rendition focusing on an up-and-coming hotel, the Australian version also has potential to stand out in a similar fashion.

Ghosts Season 4 Is Avoiding A Major Crossover Mistake

Ghosts season 4 won’t include a seemingly fitting crossover, and this is a surprisingly smart choice by the hit sitcom for numerous reasons.

Since there are somegame-changing powers coming toGhostsin the US,this element could be another way the series differentiates itself from the two versions that came before.Since the ongoing show is doing everything fromhaving Jay see ghoststo introducing a new villain in the form of Patience, the same kind of wild, unpredictable storytelling might still be present in the Australian version. Though every rendition ofGhostsis bound to feel different, the smaller similarities will help tie them together, even if big differences are in store as they progress.
