NBA 2K25: Biggest Changes From 2K24
New Features, City Redesigns, & More
NBA 2K25comes with a host of new features and updates to make its simulation of real-world basketball as realistic and immersive as it can be. First and foremost, there’s a major update to MyNBA mode. Instead of starting in the current season, players can use the new Eras feature to play through historic moments in NBA history: think Magic vs. Bird, Michael Jordan’s rise to fame, Kobe’s enduring reign.
MyGM is also being revamped forNBA 2K25, with new options for players to set their own backstories. These affect how many resources the player has to work with at the beginning of the season, and their stats for negotiating with players. They’ll also be able to free-roam around their team’s offices, chatting with players, coaches, and other staff members in interactive conversations with branching dialogue trees.
On top of all that,NBA 2K25’s City has been completely redesigned. This free-roam map has been around since2K21, and includes a variety of different features: unique half-courts for street games, the Proving Grounds for ranked play, and lots of opportunities for interaction with athletes and other players.2K25also marks the unofficial return of2K15’s MyPARKS feature, with the courts from that game mode appearing as events in the City’s Event Center. Players can also customize their own apartments (with attached basketball courts, of course) via the returning MyCOURT feature - which will feature in MyCAREER mode as well.
Besides that, players can also expect to see much of the usual: new face scans for players, improved graphics and UI, and updated team rosters. It’ll also include9,000 new ProPLAY animations, which contribute to the game’s overall realism by translating real NBA footage into in-game movements.
That’s everything to know about2K25for now. With sweeping updates to its game modes, this is shaping up to be one of the most distinctNBAgames in recent memory. The rest will have to wait until afterNBA 2K25’s September 6 launch.
