Fans have been given a major treat with the publication ofMy Hero Academia’s volume #42 on June 09, 2025. The final volume of the iconic superhero battle shōnen is home toa new epilogue, “More” (chapter #431), that sees the expansion of the series' epic narrative. At an unreal 38 pages, the epilogue is a labor of love sending off one of modern shōnen’s most defining tales.
Even those only passingly familiar with the franchise will be well aware of the lukewarm (at best) reception for the series' finale. A great deal of speculation has arisen since then, with some speculating thatthe promised epilogue might fixMy Hero Academia’s ending entirely. With the new chapter’s release so fresh, the jury is still out on fan reception. However, there’s no doubt that many fans will be elated to see its many memorable heroes projected into the future.

My Hero AcademiaGives A Sneak Peek Of Pro Heroes' Futures With Epilogue
Eight Years Down The Line, Countless Heroes Get New Looks
Chapter #431 shows numerous fan-favorite characters after the eight-year timeskip. Fans have mostly latched on to Mirko and Mt. Lady. However,Best Jeanist’s glow-up also deserves recognition, looking particularly Levi-esque in the new headshot. Throwing people like Orca, Wash, and Kamui Woods into the mix, the passing faces in the chapter reflectMy Hero Academia’s shocking new post-timeskip hero chart.
One of the best parts of the epilogue is seeing the old hero rankings make way for the next generation of heroes. The most notable example of this is Lemillon finding his way into the number one spot. Overall, the hero chart’s top spots hold more familiar faces than ever before, paying dues to the huge cast of characters that fans had been following for hundreds of chapters. Alongside satisfying character development for Bakugo and Deku, the new hero chart and character designs are the most rewarding moments.

When Can Fans Expect The English Translation ofMy Hero Academia’s Final Volume?
Volume 42 Remains A Long Way Off
My Hero Academia’s English fans are anxious to read the series' final word. So far, only the volume’s Japanese edition is available; an English release date hasn’t yet been announced. If volume 41’s June 2025 release date is anything to go off of, volume 42 might not see an English release until October 2025.
Fortunately, the series has a hard-working community, and English fanslations will likely be available very soon. Unfortunately, though, the epilogue chapter is being kept under tight wraps, with popular X posts containing scans of the latest volume becoming inaccessible due to copyright infringement within mere days. Fans ofMy Hero Academiashould remain cautiously hopeful that the epilogue chapter might appear on services like Viz and MangaPlus for the Anglosphere prior to the volume’s eventual release—but as of the time of writing, there has been no announcement in that direction.
