MLB The Show 23introduced sets of cards for Diamond Dynasty that could only be used for one in-game season. Seasons typically last about six to eight weeks, with sets only being viable for two seasons. AlthoughMLB The Show 24increased the duration of seasons, I still wasn’t really into the idea of collecting a bunch of digital cards that would stop being usable at a certain point. Luckily, enough players seemed to feel the same way as me, and San Diego Studio listened to their criticisms.
MLB The Show 25 Is Getting Rid Of Sets & Seasons
MLB The Show 25 Will Allow Cards To Be Used All Year
Instead of trying to extend seasons again,MLB The Show 25is ditching seasonsaltogether. Nowyou will be able to use every card you collect for your Diamond Dynasty team at any point. According to theFielding Feedbackvideo about Diamond Dynasty released bySony San Diegoon YouTube, you’re able to work your way up to a team that has a 99 overall ranking. So, not only will cards not become useless, but Diamond Dynasty will have a nice sense of progression throughout the season.
MLB The Show 25: Everything Confirmed For Franchise Mode
MLB The Show 25’s revamped Franchise mode is aiming to give you a better GM experience, with deeper strategies for owning a team and shopping players.
This is exactly the type of change I needed to see inMLB The Show 25to actually give Diamond Dynasty mode a chance. I’ve read forums that say Diamond Dynasty isn’t as fueled by microtransactions asMadden’s Ultimate Team mode, so I’ve wanted to try it out at some point. However, having played a lot ofMagic: The Gathering, I knew how annoying it was to have to rebuild after every set rotation. Now that this is gone,MLB The Show 25’s Diamond Dynasty mode will be a lot more fun.

Yearlong Card Progression Makes Diamond Dynasty More Fun
Yearlong Progression Makes It Easier To Craft Your Perfect Team
The argument against a yearlong progression inMLB The Show’s Diamond Dynasty mode - and why sets and seasons were initially introduced - was that it allowed for too much power creep. While that isn’t necessarily untrue,it also seems like power creep is the entire point of a mode like Diamond Dynasty. I want to see my team get consistently better, instead of having to reset every so often, and hope I open the right cards to get me back to where I was.
I also like the idea of getting to assemble a team of MLB players from a larger card pool. AlthoughMLB Legends in previous gamesdidn’t rotate, current players would. To me, a major appeal of Diamond Dynasty - and modes like it in other games - isthe chance to assemble a dream team spanning across years of MLB history.

MLB The Show 25 Has Learned The Best Lesson From College Football 25
MLB The Show 25 is improving its Road to the Show mode by drawing inspiration from EA Sports College Football 25’s success with college teams.
It isn’t just about assembling my own team, but also seeing certain match-ups. It’s fun to see how baseball players I grew up watching, like Cal Ripken Jr. and Frank Thomas, stack up against current players.Having a yearlong progression makes it a lot easier to put together the exact team I wantto see go head-to-head with other players.

Diamond Dynasty’s Changes Sound Great Overall
Diamond Dynasty’s Other New Features Add To The Experience
While sets and seasons leaving are the main reason I’m more interested in Diamond Dynasty now, there are other changes that have also caught my interest. I’m a sucker for a rogue-like experience, so the addition of Diamond Quest is something I will likely enjoy. I have a much easier time getting into single-player challenge modes if they are structured within a framework like this.
I’m also looking forward to utilizing the Team Affinity Programs to earn rewards for my favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles. While the point of Diamond Dynasty is to collect players from across the league, it’s still nice to have some say in certain rewards. That way, you can guarantee you’ll get at least some items for your favorite team.

When Does MLB The Show 25 Early Access Begin?
Early Access for MLB The Show 25 will let certain players get into the game four days ahead of time, but only if they meet the right requirements.
Sports games are usually what I play when I want a more casual gaming experience, so I’m not likely to play any Ranked Diamond Dynasty. However, I do like the idea of the Weekend Classic, so I can opt into a more competitive environment from time-to-time if I choose to. Overall, I’m happy with a lot of the changes being made toMLB The Show 25’s Diamond Dynasty mode, and this will be the year I finally try it out.
