Devil’s Reign Impacted Marvel Comics In 2021

Ever since Vincent D’Onofrio’s return as Wilson Fisk in 2021’sHawkeye,Marvel Studios has been setting him up to become the new Mayor of New York, which seems to be coming to fruition in2025’sDaredevil: Born Again. After he becomes Mayor in Marvel Comics, Fisk, during 2021’sDevil’s Reignstoryline, outlaws vigilantism in New York, which has a huge impact on many street-level and major heroes. After the events ofHawkeyeandEcho, this appears to also be Wilson Fisk’s goal in the MCU, posing a dark future for Daredevil, Hawkeye and more.

In the Marvel Comics storyline,Mayor Fisk established Thunderbolts units to enforce his new laws after outlawing vigilantism in New York City. WithEchoteasing his evolution into Mayor in the MCU,Thunderbolts*introducing this antihero team in 2025, andDaredevil: Born Againseemingly forging Fisk into Mayor, many street-level heroes could find themselves affected by Kingpin’s actions. This could include Daredevil and the Defenders, Spider-Man, Captain America and, perhaps most pertinently, Clint Barton and his new protégé, which leads perfectly intoHawkeyeseason 2.
