Voice actor Khary Payton has revealed thatMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydrawill likely be releasing around Christmas. The upcoming title is the latest entry to the Marvel universe, based on the 2010 comic,Flags of Our Fathers.The game will see Black Panther, Captain America, and several allies join forces for a common cause. The game is scheduled for release in 2025, but thanks to Payton we now know to potentially expect it in the latter part of the year.

In a recent interview withThe Direct,Black Panthervoice actorKhary Payton narrowed down the release window of the upcoming action title to around the holidays. Payton has stated that Skydance New Media studio is currently working on the title and hopes that the game’s release will be “a Christmas situation.” He told The Direct:

“We’re still working. We’re planning on 2025… We’re thinking like a Christmas situation. But I’m so excited.”

Of course, until confirmed by Skydance New Media or the game’s publisher Plaion,Payton’s words should be taken with a pinch of salt.If he’s correct, though, fans may be able to play the game around this year’s holiday season.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrawas officially announced back in 2021, and received its first story trailer duringEpic’s “State Of Unreal” presentationat the 2024 Game Developers Conference (GDC). In the game, Khary Payton will be providing the voice of Azzuri, also known as King T’Chanda, who is the grandfather of the current-day Black Panther.Set in 1943 Paris against the backdrop of World War II, Azzuri and Captain America (voiced by Drew Moerlein), will have to join forces to prevent the founding of the evil organization, Hydra.

Players will also have the opportunity to command other characters, including members of the Wakandan Spy Network. Fans' favorite Marvel characters will be brought to life thanks to the powerful Unreal Engine 5 that the game is built on.
