Proposals are a relatively common occurrence inStardew Valley, but seeing a proposal that gets creative with the concept can be refreshing. One creative new proposal made between a couple that was already married in real life showsStardew Valley’s potential for cute gestures, especially when they step outside the typical boundaries of the game’s romance systems. Although getting the wedding ring to gift to another player can be romantic, taking advantage of the game’s primary mechanics to cultivate something special is even better.

Reddit usersweetestshelbyshared thein-game proposal made by her real-life husband, which spells out “MARRY ME?” in sunflowers. As sunflowers take eight days to grow, it’s not a feat that could be pulled off immediately, but sweetestshelby didn’t often check this corner of the farm.

Sunflowers are apparently sweetestshelby’s favorite flower, making this a particularly thoughtful gesture. It clearly scored him some points, as landing a popular Reddit post celebrating a romantic gesture shows that it didn’t go unappreciated.

The Perfect Stardew Valley Proposal Takes Time

Patience Is A Virtue

The eight-day period needed to pull this off was assisted by the fact that sweetestshelby prefers to spend time in town andtaking care of farm animals, letting her husband work on his project in secret.Creating convincing letters in the allotted space does come with some challenges, asSudden-Dimension-645points out in a comment transcribing the proposal as “MqAAY ME?”, but that doesn’t change how sweet the effort is.

Stardew Valley Player Skips Over The Marriage Candidates For The Perfect Wedding Plan

One Stardew Valley player decided to skip out on all the eligible bachelors and bachelorettes in favor of a real-world option with a SDV theme.

Pulling off something similar in real life would come with significantly greater challenges, soit’s the kind of idea that’s ultimately perfect for the video game format. Couples that split the farm work more evenly might have more trouble pulling something like this off, but there are plenty of otherways to get creative, especially when focusing on what a partner likes best.

Our Take: Stardew Valley Is Great For Couples

Co-Op That Works For Everyone

As a cozy game with a wide variety of gameplay possibilities,Stardew Valleyis exceptionally well-suited as a way for couples to spend time together. Sweetestshelby notes that they’ve played enough toreach Level 100 of Skull Cavernand find every golden walnut on Ginger Island, but they still have some other goals ahead of them.

Although I’ve played farming games in co-op before, I’ve also spent plenty of time rushing to fit all myStardew ValleyorHarvest Moonchores into a day, and having a partner to help out can definitely make for a more relaxing experience. It can also clearly be a great springboard for romantic overtures, at least when there’s enough creativity involved to make it feel special.
