Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Deadpool/Wolverine #1
In the wake of the MCU’sDeadpool & Wolverinein 2024, I’m very excited for 2025’s newDeadpool/Wolverineteam-up series from Marvel Comics. Featuring Wade Wilson and Logan in an all-new adventure featuring all kinds of bloody action and a dark new mystery, this first issue has set the stage for a very exciting new story on the page. This also includes the return of a major new X-Men villain who may force Logan and Wade to finally find ways of killing each other.

Coming from Benjamin Percy, Joshua Cassara, and Guru-eFX,Deadpool/Wolverine #1sees Wade Wilson recruiting Logan for a new mission. As such, Wade is completely calm, focused, and determined, telling Logan in as few words as possible that “the mission awaits”. Naturally, this is completely irregular for the Merc With The Mouth, prompting Wolverine to join Deadpool and figure out what’s really going on.As such, this first issue ends with a major surprise twist, one that has me almost as excited for this new series and its potential as the MCU’sDeadpool & Wolverine.
After The MCU’sDeadpool & Wolverine, I’m Here For More Wade And Logan
A Brand-New Marvel Team-Up Series
As far as first issues go,Deadpool/Wolverine #1is a very strong opening act from writer Benjamin Percy, and the artwork from Cassara is visually striking and full of energy. There’s an exciting hook at the end to keep readers wanting more, and this first chapter is full of bloody epic action and classic irreverence from Wade. As such, you definitely know what you’re getting into going forward with Marvel’s new series.
“A new mystery and adventure that puts Wade and Logan at odds just as much as it brings them together is exactly what I love to see on the page…”
For those wanting more of Logan and Wade after seeingDeadpool & Wolverinein the MCU, it certainly looks as though Marvel’s newDeadpool/Wolverinehas what you’re looking for. It certainly does for me. A new mystery and adventure that puts Wade and Logan at odds just as much as it brings them together is exactly what I love to see on the page, especially in the wake ofRyan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s versions finally teaming up on screen.
An Epic And Bloody Stage Has Already Been Set For Deadpool/Wolverine
Wade Brainwashed, And A Major X-Men Villain Returns
At the issue’s end, it’s revealed that Wade’s mind has been taken over by none other thanStryfe, the dark clone of Cable who was raised by Apocalypse. Apparently wanting both Wolverine and Deadpool to serve as his new X-Cutioners,it seems as though this new Marvel Comics series will be expanding Stryfe and his most famous story, “X-Cutioner’s Song”, where Stryfe posed as Cable and unleashed the deadly Legacy Virus. After all, Wolverine does discover what looks to be a new virus labeled Legacy: Reborn in this new issue.
It will also be interesting to see ifStryfe will somehow be tied to the legacy of the mutant-hating X-Cutioner, a separate X-Men villain who debuted a few years after “X-Cutioner’s Song”. At the time of writing, there has never been any connection between the classic Stryfe story and the villain of the same name.At any rate, the stage has been set for a very exciting new team-up for Wade and Logan, and I can’t wait for more issues ofDeadpool/Wolverineto see what happens next with Stryfe’s return.
