Warning! SPOILERS about Fire Country season 3, episode 5 ahead.

Jared Padalecki’s debut as Camden Casey inFire Countryseason 3, episode 5 highlighted one sad truth previously gone undetected about Bode’s Edgewater life. From the first moment Camden arrived to Edgewater,Fire Countryseason 3established his different, but practical approach. This was evident in the fight he joined in Bode’s place after Diego’s friends baited him, stopping it as early as possible and still protecting Bode’s parole.Fire Countryseason 3, episode 5 went on to reveal how well-paired Camden and Bode also were in the field, which unfortunately revealed the harsh truth of Bode’s life in Edgewater.

Between attending the plane crash and having to rehome its passengers in Edgewater until the next day, the start of Bode and Audrey’s phase 3 training proved particularly challenging. However, that didn’t seem the case for Bode himself, who bravely and dangerously tackled the cockpit fire, happily following Camden’s directives. While Bode was happy to be allowed to run toward the danger at last, Vince, Sharon and Jake all opposed Camden’s methods, with Jake even going as far as voicing his concerns to Camden at the crash site. The ordeal thus unwittingly revealed a worrying pattern Bode’s loved ones followed.

If it comes to fruition, Jared Padalecki’s Fire Country spinoff will likely break from a trend set forth by the franchise’s first two series.

Jared Padalecki’s Camden Understands Bode The Most In Fire Country Season 3

Their Similar Past & Attitude Can Make Camden Bode’s Best Mentor Yet

Camden and Bode hit it off inFire Countryseason 3, episode 5, with Camden immediately recognizing Bode for the kind of firefighter he could be. In Camden, Bode finally found someone willing to let him pursue the most dangerous tasks to save people.Meeting him as a cadet, Camden wasn’t burdened by Bode’s past, seeing his true potential and not a past version of Bodelike his loved ones. Camden openly told Bode to harness the “wolf” inside him, recognizing it for what it was and offering a cautionary tale of what could happen if he didn’t.

Jared Padalecki’s Camden Casey is set to have a 3-episode arc inFire Countryseason 3.

Indeed,Fire Countryseason 3, episode 5 presented Camden’s backstoryas the thing that haunts him because he didn’t listen to his gut and his team died as a result. This not only explains Camden’s peculiar approach when training cadets, but it also passes Bode a message that any other of his mentors had yet to teach him.Seeing Bode’s family and friends trying to manage Bode’s instincts instead of letting him follow them alerted Camden of the risk his history could repeat itself with Bode, making Camden the firefighter who understood Bode the most inFire Countryseason 3.

Bode’s Family & Friends Still Fail To Recognize His Progress

Camden believing in Bode and seeing a captaincy in his future highlighted even more the stark contrast with Bode’s loved ones, who often expressed how proud they were of Bode’s progress but were just as fearful of a possible relapse. This was already evident inFire Countryseason 1’s endingwhen Sharon believed Bode’s false confession that he had relapsed so that Freddy’s release was ensured. However,Fire Countryseason 3 proved Bode’s friends and family still saw his past mistakes while they supported his path, failing to recognize Bode’s progress throughoutFire Countryseasons 1 and 2.

All together, the fears of Bode’s loved ones paint a sad reality of how they cannot see who Bode has become inFire Country.

This couldn’t be more evident after Sharon reacted poorly to Bode’s news that he was moving out, believing it too fast inFire Countryseason 3, episode 5. Similarly,Jake opposed Bode’s risky plans when he trained him, but also protested Camden’s plan to put Bode on the plane, on the call and even at Smokey’s, underlining how Bode might be the stuff of captains, but he knew him, and that’s why he feared for him. All together, the fears of Bode’s loved ones paint a sad reality of how they cannot see who Bode has become inFire Country.
