The live-actionOshi no Koseries has finally arrived on streaming services, and is planned to adapt the hit manga by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari to its completion.Available on Amazon Prime worldwide,Oshi no Ko’s first six episodes were released on July 10, 2025, and the final two episodes will become available on June 20, 2025. The series is set to end with a feature-length film, titled,Oshi no Ko: The Final Act, which will adapt the recently completed final arc of the manga.

The live-action drama stars Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino, Nagisa Saito as Ruby Hoshino, and Kaito Sakurai in the role of Aqua Hoshino. UnlikeOshi no Ko’s anime adaptation,which opened with a film-length episode, the live-action will close with one that, as of now, has yet to receive an international release date. Following the massive success ofOne Piece’s Netflix series, anime fans can expecta large increase in live-action adaptations going forward, withOshi no Kobeing the latest to hit the scene.

The Manga Often Called Out the Entertainment Industry

Oshi no Ko, apart from its elements of human drama, is a story that isextremely critical of the entertainment industry. Now, that very same industry is responsible for producing an adaptation of a work that consistently calls out the evils of stardom. Author Aka Akasaka commented on the live-action series on X, a portion of which translates to, “When I heard that they would make a live-action adaptation, I wanted to ask both the cast and production team, ‘are you sure you’re okay with this?'”

Whether the new series will remain fully faithful to the source material remains to be seen, though from what has already been released,only minor changes have been madethat seemingly will not alter the overarching story.
