Invincible’s Simon Racioppa addresses how much he and his team have planned out for the series. Racioppa is a showrunner on the Prime Video series created by original comics author Robert Kirkman. After the comic series finished in 2018,Invincibleseason 1 came out on Prime Video in 2021, with season 3 wrapping up in 2025. Starring a leading cast includingSteven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, and Walton Goggins, the series has been tremendously well-received and has plans for season 4.
In an interview withScreenRantat WonderCon, Racioppa talks about how far he and Kirkman have planned for the show. The showrunner said thathe and Kirkman have “talked about it all the way to the end"because they have the benefit of having the comic series “as the groundwork” for the adaptation. Despite these conversations, however, Racioppa is clear that they haveonly started work on season 4. The creator was also asked if an animated movie was coming, to which he responded, “anything is possible.” Check out the full quote from Racioppa below:

ScreenRant:How far have you guys plotted ahead when it comes to the show?
Racioppa:Obviously, we have the books as the groundwork of the series. We’ve talked about it all the way to the end, and Robert and I have had conversations about it. But in terms of actually sitting down and starting to do work on it, we’re just doing season 4 right now. Hopefully, we’ll get to do more.

But we’ve had dinner and talked about other parts. Like, “Wait till we get to this part, or wait till we get to that part.”
ScreenRant:Could there be an Invincible animated film coming?
Racioppa:I guess anything is possible, but there’s nothing to report with that.
What This Means For Invincible
A Live-Action Movie Is Even More Imminent Than An Animated One
As Racioppa references in his quote,Invincibleis only renewed for season 4 so far. Based on the comics' progression, however, the team will need more than just eight more episodes to finish the story that Kirkman started. Judging by his quote, Racioppa is aware of this when making his plotting, noting “Hopefully, we’ll get to do more.“Invincibleseason 3 got great reviewsand was widely watched, which will hopefully compel Amazon to renew the series, making Kirkman and Racioppa’s conversations come true.
TheInvincibleseason 3 finale has become one of the highest-rated TV episodes of all time byIMDbusers, getting 9.9 out of 10 stars.
Racioppa touches on the key question of whether there will be moreInvinciblecontent in the form of an animated feature film. While it seems he has nothing to report there, Kirkman recently spoke out about the progress ofInvincible’s confirmed live-action movie. There did not seem to be a lot of concrete momentum for the live-action film, but the series creator did say he “would be shocked if it didn’t happen”. The TV series has already had an interstitial Atom Eve episode, so they could also do something like this even without an animated feature.
Our Take On This Invincible Update
Invincible’s Early Renewal Would Help Season 4
The fact that Racioppa and Kirkman have talked about the series all the way until the end makes me wantInvincibleto be renewed even more. The first three seasons have benefitted from the knowledge that they’ll be renewed, as it allows them the creative liberty to end on cliffhangers or moments that suggest a major advancement of the narrative. For this reason, it would be even better if Prime Video announced season 5 sooner rather than later, so thatInvincibleseason 4can have this same kind of artistic freedom.
Invincible
Cast
Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
