I am beyond excited forAhsokaseason 2, but if the new season doesn’t answer this essentialAhsoka Tanoquestion that none ofStar Wars’movies or TV showshas addressed so far, I’ll be so disappointed.Ahsokaseason 2is one of only two currently confirmedupcomingStar WarsTV shows, although more announcements are presumably coming next month during Star Wars Celebration 2025. Nevertheless, because onlyAhsokaseason 2 andAndorseason 2are known to be in the lineup at this time, both shows have gotten plenty of attention.
This has included a host of fan theories about each, includingcharacters who could appear inAhsokaseason 2and where the plot of this show could go. Among the most thrilling possibilities forAhsokaseason 2 are the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker and the potential introduction of the terrifyingStar Warsvillain Abeloth into canon. I remain interested in all these possibilities, but there’s one major question I needAhsokaseason 2 to answer, and I’m so worried it won’t.

Star Wars Still Hasn’t Shown Ahsoka’s Whereabouts During The Original Trilogy
Star Wars Has Dropped Hints About Where Ahsoka Was For Part Of This Era But Not All Of It
To state the obvious, Ahsoka Tano didn’t exist when the original trilogy movies were released. Ahsoka was added totheStar Warstimelinemuch later—after the prequel trilogy, even—inStar Wars: The Clone Wars. However,Star Warsis no stranger to retconning characters and storylines, so when Ahsoka was introduced inThe Clone Warsand then became one of thesurvivors of Order 66,Star Warscreated a need for Ahsoka’s whereabouts during the original trilogy to be revealed.
Star Warscreated a need for Ahsoka’s whereabouts during the original trilogy to be revealed.

Despite that need,Star Warshas yet to give a clear answer about why Ahsoka wasn’t fighting alongside Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and the other rebels in the original trilogy.Ahsokaprovided some context, as it revealed that Ahsoka had surprisingly taken Sabine Wren on as a Jedi apprentice betweenStar Wars RebelsandAhsoka. With that training evidently running right up until the Purge of Mandalore, andStar Wars Outlawsconfirming that the Purge of Mandalore took place in 3 ABY, it’s safe to assume Ahsoka was training Sabine duringA New HopeandThe Empire Strikes Back.
Star Wars Finally Reveals What Ahsoka Was Doing During (Part Of) The Original Trilogy
Star Wars Outlaws has finally revealed some information about where Ahsoka Tano was during the original trilogy, but it also introduced a new problem.
That still leaves Ahsoka entirely unaccounted for duringReturn of the Jedi, though, which is arguably when it would have been most important (and have made the most sense) for Ahsoka to join up with the Rebellion and bring an end to the Empire. It’s evident that Ahsoka does link up with the key players in the Rebellion at some point as well, given that, inThe Book of Boba Fett, Luke and Ahsoka clearly know one another. This begs the question: where the heck was Ahsoka duringReturn of the Jedi, and why hasStar Warsnever addressed it?

Ahsoka’s Story Has To Include This Era
It Just Doesn’t Make Sense That Ahsoka Would Sit This Out
It’s so important thatStar Warsaddresses this sooner rather than later becauseit simply isn’t like Ahsoka at all to sit out these major events. Ahsoka was on the frontlines during the Clone Wars, she held her own during Order 66, and she has quite simply never backed down from a fight. Particularly with her personal connection to Darth Vader, this war is something Ahsoka would have wanted to be actively involved in. Her character deserves to have this question answered.
Particularly with her personal connection to Darth Vader, this war is something Ahsoka would have wanted to be actively involved in.

Ahsokaseason 2 is also the right time forStar Warsto finally address this lingering Ahsoka Tano mystery. For one, the show is centered on Ahsoka, so it’s simply the most obvious choice. In addition to that, while this Ahsoka story could be explored in other mediums—such as other shows, movies, or even books—it’s obvious thatStar Warsis paring down in terms of the shows and movies the franchise is churning out. Other stories should be focused on new characters and unexplored territory.
I Need To Find Out More About This Period For Ahsoka
There Is So Much That Is Yet To Be Shown On Screen
Ahsokaseason 2 finally providing these answers would go far beyond just addressing why Ahsoka wasn’t front and center during the final years of the war. As mentioned,The Book of Boba Fettconfirmed that Luke and Ahsoka already had some sort of relationship, meaning audiences didn’t get to see their first encounter on screen. As someone who loves Anakin Skywalker and would be moved to see his son and his former Padawan meeting for the first time, I feel a bit robbed of this experience.
IfAhsokaseason 2 does depict Ahsoka’s whereabouts during that era, the show could offer viewers this experience and so much more. Yes,Ahsokaseason 2 has plenty of ground to cover, what with Ahsoka and Sabine now being trapped on Peridea and Thrawn and Ezra back in the mainStar Warsgalaxy. Even so, I will be genuinely disappointed ifAhsokaseason 2 doesn’t address this massive Ahsoka Tano question I’ve been asking for years.
