Daredevil’s Black Costume Is Key To 1 Iconic Marvel Comics Storyline

Daredevil’s Black Suit Makes Me Think The MCU Will Adapt Shadowland For Born Again Season 2

Shadowland Saw Matt Murdock Return As A Dark Antihero In 2010

After a stay in Japan, Matt Murdock returned to New York City as the new leader of the Hand ninja clan in 2010’sShadowland, and established the titular temple in Hell’s Kitchen. Throughout this storyline, Matt Murdock sported his black costume as the Man Without Fear, sothe appearance of the black suit in set photos forDaredevil: Born Againseason 2 has us thinking that Marvel will be adapting theShadowlandevent. This was an incredibly transformative storyline for Daredevil in Marvel Comics, so it would be great to see it unfold in the MCU.

Marvel Studios has already been laying the foundations for aShadowlandadaptation. This storyline kicked off in Marvel Comics with a darker Daredevil killing Bullseye in an act of vengeance for his murder of Elektra.Bullseye killing Foggy Nelson inDaredevil: Born Again’spremiereset up this intense event perfectly, whilethe introduction of Angela del Toro, who works alongside Daredevil as the White Tiger in theShadowlandstory, could also prove important. This storyline saw Daredevil possessed by the Beast of the Hand, which would bring about a massive change for him in the MCU.

Shadowland Would Debut The Darkest Daredevil The MCU Has Ever Seen

Daredevil Kills In Marvel Comics' Shadowland

While a direct adaptation of theShadowlandstoryline seems unlikely, as the Hand is seemingly defunct afterThe Defenders, and the Beast of the Hand might be too outlandish, loosely adapting it would make some brilliant changes to Matt Murdock.Shadowland’sDaredevil was perhaps his most brutal and violent iteration, andsince some of the darker qualities of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock have begun to present themselves, this storyline may be on the horizon. In fact, Daredevil battled his own superhero allies in theShadowlandevent, which would be fantastic to see inDaredevil: Born Againseason 2.

Daredevil: Born Again Just Retconned A 10 Year Old Netflix Series Easter Egg (But It’s For The Best)

By making the future for one new MCU character in Daredevil: Born Again much more exciting, Marvel Studios retconned a Defenders Saga easter egg.

Daredevil and White Tiger fought the likes of Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Moon Knight and Iron Fist, among many others, which could open the door for many cameo appearances inDaredevil: Born Againseason 2. We’ve already seen Daredevil almost kill Bullseye inBorn Again, and this storyline will be continued in upcoming episodes, so it wouldn’t take much to push Matt Murdock over the edge.Shadowlandwould bring the most unhinged and dark version ofDaredevil into the MCU, so would give Charlie Cox the chance to find new layers to his iconic hero.
