Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

I thinkStar Wars’newest show just cut one of the first members of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Order. While there were several theories that Jude Law’s character Jod Na Nawood would be revealed as a Jedi inSkeleton Crew, it was ultimately revealed that his history was only Jedi adjacent. However, it’s since been revealed that the newStar Warswas originally going to have a genuine Jedi featured at some point in the series.

Despite being a Force-user,the final episode ofSkeleton Crewreveals that Jod was never a genuine Jedi in theStar Warscanon. Instead, he was simply taught a few things by a Jedi survivor of Order 66 who was killed by the Empire when he was just a boy before he grew up to become a pirate captain known as Silvo (and many other names). While the recent reveal that a genuine Jedi character was indeed cut from the series, I thinkSkeleton Crew’smissing Jedi character was much bigger than some might initially assume.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Cut A New Jedi

Played by Yasmine Al Massri

In the days followingSkeleton Crew’sfinale, actress Yasmine Al Massri revealed on Instagramthat she filmed scenes for the series that were ultimately cut. However, the big surprise was that the photos featured her in Jedi robes and wielding a lightsaber. As such, it’s easy to assume that she filmed a flashback sequence and was Jod’s brief Jedi “master” who was killed by the Empire. While that idea is tragic, I’ve noticed a couple of things that lead me to believe that Massri’s Jedi could have instead debuted in the present, rather than in a Dark Times flashback.

The 8 Biggest Theories I Have For Skeleton Crew Season 2 (If It Happens)

There are so many hopes and rumors for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 2… and here are the most exciting theories about what could happen!

Firstly, Massri’s Jedi is shown sporting a Padawan braid, indicating that she was a Jedi apprentice. Also, the fact that she is still wearing traditional Jedi robes doesn’t quite work with Jod’s comments that his Jedi mentor was “as desperate and ragged” as he was, the primary indication that she was on the run as all Jedi had become fugitives from the Empire and its Imperial Inquisitors. The Jedi who did survive knew to be inconspicuous, keeping their robes and often their lightsabers discarded or hidden away.

Where Would Yasmine Al Massri’s Jedi Have Appeared?

Supporting the New Republic Rescue?

Instead of being Jod’s teacher, I’m far more interested and excited about the theory that Massri’s Jedi might have instead been a Jedi apprentice in the New Republic Era. This would make her one ofLuke Skywalker’s first students at his academy on Ossus, which has already been shown thanks toThe Book of Boba Fett. While Luke’s academy eventually comes to an end thanks to Ben Solo and his fall to the dark side, that’s still years away.

As a result,I really like the idea that Massri’s Jedi apprentice could have been part of the New Republic force that came to aid At Attin and its pirate invasion. This would have likely allowed Wim to continue seeing who “the real good guys” were and what a genuine Jedi looks like compared to Jod who had simply used his Force abilities to pose as one and gain the kids' trust. However, it seems as though the Jedi debut was not meant to be, though it’s anyone’s guess as to why the scenes were cut in the first place (perhaps due to timeline issues?).

When Will Star Wars Actually Show Luke’s New Jedi Order?

We Need To See Them in Action At Some Point…

It would certainly be very exciting to see Luke’s Jedi Order on-screen at some point during the New Republic timeline. After all, plenty ofStar Warsfans are eager to see more of Luke Skywalker in his prime at a period when his Jedi academy was actually working (before his mistakes with his nephew caused everything to fall apart). That said, perhaps Lucasfilm wants to save new Jedi like Yasmine Al Massri’s character for a bigger debut, perhaps in the upcoming New Republic movie in the works from Dave Filoni.
