Monster Hunter Wildsis an absolute juggernaut of an action RPG, and as you probably suspected, a hit in terms of sales. Within 24 hours of launch, it broke over 1.3 million concurrent Steam players. Despite that,only 47% of the user reviews forMonster Hunter Wildsremain positive, with complaints levied at technical issues relating to performance and crashing, among others.
As for the crashing, while not everyone is experiencing it (we didn’t on PS5, as seen inourMonster Hunter Wildsreview), those that are report occurrences every few hours, or sometimes multiple times per hour. Nothing kills the vibe quite like crashing, so if you’re frustrated and looking for solutions, you’ve come to the right place.

Compatibility Mode And Driver Changes Can Go A Long Way
Crashing can occur both at startup and during gameplay. Either way, there is some overlap in the fixes, which range fromCompatibility Mode changes to updating drivers, and everything in between. With any luck, this is a short-term problem, but either way,review scores forMonster Hunter Wildsdon’t seem to have been affected much, in contrast to the user scores.

This tool will ensure any bits that’ve been left over by NVIDIA or whoever will be wiped clean, and that you have a truly fresh start. In other words, if this doesn’t do the trick, the issue isn’t your drivers.
Apart from that, the general advice applies:lower your graphics settings, which can include disabling Frame Generation (although some say enabling Frame Generation works for them). If using the High Res Texture Pack, consider uninstalling it. Also, disable any overclocks on your hardware.
If all that fails (or only alleviates the issue), there are a couple of more things you can try, although they are unlikely to work or are a little risky. First:verify your game files. To do this, right click the game in Steam and go to Installed Files, then click ‘Verify integrity of game files’. The second option is toincrease your Virtual Memory. This is bit complex and more of a serious change, sodo so at your own risk. Type ‘Advanced’ into Windows search, then click the ‘Settings’ button under ‘Performance’. Click the ‘Advanced’ tab, then ‘Change’ under ‘Virtual memory’. Uncheck the ‘Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers’ button at the top, then click ‘OK’ at the bottom. This may work because Wilds has issues with VRAM that cause crashing.
You’ll want to revert the Virtual memory change once you’re done with Monster Hunter Wilds, or once it’s no longer experiencing crashes without this setting.

If after all this you’re still experiencing crashing, your best bet is toreport what happenedto the developer. To do that, head to theircustomer support page, and provide them with your hardware information.
The easiest way to provide a lot of this information is to run a DXDiag report. To do that, simplytype ‘dxdiag’ into Windows search and click the icon that appears. Then once past the signage screen, click ‘Save All Information’. Then, attach it on the Capcom Customer Support site (from wherever you saved it). You’ll also need a copy of your graphics settings, which can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds. Copy the file there and prepare to upload it just the same way.
